Nail Of The Day – Rainbow Foils

Rimmel Sir Yes Sir plus FoilsHi there! I haven’t done an all-over rainbow foil mani in ages, so I thought it’s about time to do another one.

I didn’t want the foils to go on a clear base this time, so I painted my nails with Rimmel 60 Seconds 625 Sir, Yes Sir! (on top of a base coat, of course).

When the polish had dried to the point that it was still tacky, I went nuts with foil leftovers in different colours. It looked pretty cool at this point, but I wanted more!

Then I applied a clear polish and added MORE colour from my foil leftovers. I let the mani dry and applied another coat of clear polish. Tadaa – here’s my autumn-style dark rainbow foil mani!

I really loved the finished mani. The last rainbow mani I did in August was pretty cheerful and the colours were lighter. This mani is just as cheerful and colourful, but I love that this time the colours are darker. Feel free to let me know your thoughts on this one.

Adidas for Women shower gels – Vitality & Happy

Adidas shower gelsHi there! Here’s another post about products I’ve bought ages ago, but haven’t used – until now. Meet Adidas Vitality and Happy!

Adidas Vitality smells green – I guess it’s a mix of lime and mint. The shower gel also contains massage pearls.

I like that this shower gel doesn’t make my skin feel dry, and the massage pearls feel quite nice.

However, this shower gel is one of the tingly ones (Hate!) and I won’t continue to use it in the shower. Saying this, it might be great for foot baths.

Adidas Happy on the other hand is a product I enjoy a lot. It’s just as gentle and non-drying as the Vitality shower gel. However, Happy smells wonderfully sweet, juicy and feminine – and it’s not a tingly shower gel. I will definitely buy it again!

If you’d like to try Adidas Vitality and Happy, you can find these full size 250 ml shower gels for only 99p or £1 in many discount stores.

The Ultimate £1 Stocking Filler – Leafy & Lovely Summer Meadow Hand Lotion

Hi there! About two weeks ago I checked out Superdrug’s Christmas offerings and bought quite a few bits for myself. One of these items was this cute Leafy & Lovely Summer Meadow Hand Lotion. I loved the pretty packaging and the price, so I bought it.

When I opened the box I was really pleased to find this pretty tube inside. It reminded me of expensive hand creams from L’Occitane or Roger & Gallet. So yes, I love it when cheap hand creams come in tubes because it makes them appear a lot more luxurious than they actually are.
Superdrug Leafy Lovely Hand Cream
This hand lotion is quite light, it feels silky, and it’s non-sticky. The scent is very lovely and the name Summer Meadow fits perfectly. I think it smells like the air on a warm spring day in the countryside. The scent is a bit unusual for this time of the year (keep in mind, this is one of Superdrug’s Christmas offerings), but it’s really, really nice.

This 60ml Leafy & Lovely Summer Meadow Hand Lotion would be a great stocking filler (or just a little treat). At the moment it’s £1 only – which is excellent value – so grab it while you can!

Superdrug Cocoa Butter & Vanilla Body Lotion

Superdrug Cocoa Vanilla BL111Hi there! It’s been six months since I bought my first tub of Superdrug’s Cocoa Butter & Vanilla Body Butter, so I’ve now given Superdrug’s Cocoa Butter & Vanilla Body Lotion a try.

The scent is the same – this body lotion smells lovely and sweet, but it’s no surprise since it contains cocoa butter and vanilla. The scent leans towards vanilla, but I don’t mind because it reminds me of vanilla milk.

But this body lotion doesn’t only smell divine, it’s also fantastic at moisturising. This body lotion is wonderful and it makes my skin feel soft and silky all day long. I’ll definitely buy it again!

Superdrug Cocoa Butter & Vanilla Body Lotion is available as 200 ml for £2.99 – but now there’s a BOGOF offer. Just like the other Superdrug beauty products, this lotion carries the Leaping Bunny logo. It’s cruelty-free and suitable for vegans.

Fashionista Limited Edition Palette

Hi there! I don’t know who else remembers MUA’s former sister brand Fashionista, but I thought I’d struck gold when I found a few of their Limited Edition and Custom Design palettes online.
Fashionista Custom Design Palette
The first palette I opened was this Fashionista Limited Edition Palette. There’s no number or name on this palette, so I can’t tell you exactly which palette you’d have to look out for. However, I can tell you the names of the eyeshadows in this palette.

Fashionista Custom Design PaletteLet’s start with the pretty ones! The merged brown eyeshadow is called Private Fitting, and the merged pink eyeshadow is called Couture (I think this name is perfect). These are also the first two shades in the swatch.

Now on to the neutrals with the incredibly boring names! The matte light brown eyeshadow is simply called Nude Shade 20, and the shimmery beige gold eyeshadow is called Nude Glimmer Shade 19. Obviously these are the last two shades in the swatch.

This palette was a really nice surprise for me. I love these four eyeshadows because they’re very wearable and really easy to blend. £3 well spent!

Nail Of The Day – Rimmel Lycra Pro 431 Stormy Skies & Glitter

Rimmel Stormy Skies GlitterHi there! So, after two attempts (Blood Spatter Nails and Bats on a monster slime green background) I’ve already run out of nail ideas for Halloween. So I thought I’d do a happy mani.

I used Rimmel Lycra Pro 431 Stormy Skies as my base colour and added lots of colourful matte glitter hexes (white, fuchsia, lime green) for a good mood effect.

I really like Stormy Skies. The colour is a creamy greyish blue / blueish grey and I think it’s a great autumn and winter shade. I also had to apply one coat only, so this polish is just perfect!

The matte glitter looks quite cute, I think. However, I think it would have looked better on an orange or a light yellow background. Well, there’s always a next time.

What do you think? 🙂

B. Pure Sensitive Micellar Cleansing Wipes

Hi there! Today’s post is about B. Pure Sensitive Micellar Cleansing Wipes. I wouldn’t have bought these face wipes for myself, but Superdrug is currently giving them away for free if you spend £10 on skin care. Now that I have these wipes, I might as well just use them. 🙂
B. Pure Micellar Wipes
OK, let’s start. I was quite pleased to find that these wipes are really big, so one was definitely enough to remove my make-up. At first I was hesitant to use these wipes near my eyes, but then I just gave it a go and took my eyeshadow off – which worked out fine by the way. I won’t let these wipes getting any closer to my eyes though!

I was very pleased with how well these wipes removed my make-up. However, they left my skin feeling sticky and after a few minutes I could feel a tingling sensation on my face. So instead of taking chances, I washed my face (with my favourite face wash) to remove whatever residue these wipes left behind.

Now that I’ve used these wipes, I can say for sure that I won’t be buying them again. I’ll use up the ones I’ve got to remove heavy make-up,  but since I have to wash my face after using them anyway, they’re not saving me time or money, so I’ll stick to my face wash (or cream cleanser) plus toner routine.

If you’d like to try B. Pure Sensitive Micellar Cleansing Wipes, they’re £3.99 at Superdrug’s, but they’re currently free if you spend £10 on skin care!

W7 10 Out Of 10 Browns Eyeshadow Palette

Hi there! Today’s post is about the W7 10 out of 10 palette. It’s another nude/brown palette but isn’t it pretty? I bought it at least half a year ago but didn’t use it until now because had my Sleek Au Naturel palette to play with. 🙂 Anyway, now on to the review.
W7 10 out of 10 browns
This palette contains 10 eyeshadows – 3 mattes and 7 shimmers. Shades 1, 2 and 5 are matte, the other shades are shimmers. Shades 4 and 10 are borderline glittery (unfortunately the glitter is invisible in the swatch).
W7 10 out of 10
The matte shades could be more pigmented – they’re not bad, but I’ve had better matte eyeshadows. The shimmery ones are buttery and soft – great quality!

I would recommend this palette to everyone who loves a cheap nude palette. I bought my W7 10 out of 10 palette for under £4 which is good value. W7 cosmetics are available at Savers drugstores, some Peacock’s stores, independent drugstores and – of course – online.

L’Oréal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo & Conditioner

Hi there! I think I’ve used most Elvive shampoos and conditioners over the past years, but I couldn’t remember if I ever had these ones. As they were on special (Half price – what else?), I bought them.

At first let me say that I found the L’Oréal Fibrology Thickening Shampoo to be a huge surprise. In terms of quality it’s like most L’Oréal shampoos – it’s quite good and it smells nice – but it’s quite unique because once it touches wet hair, it feels like it’s expanding… like builder’s foam! 😀

However, this is also a bit of an issue for me because I’ve got long and curly hair. Due to the way the shampoo expands, it’s not so great for thick or curly hair. My hair is a bit of a knotty mess once the shampoo is rinsed out – no matter how careful I am.
loreal-fibrology
The L’Oréal Fibrology Thickening Conditioner
isn’t good enough to deal with the knotty mess because it’s quite thick, so I have to double-condition or use a different conditioner after using the Fibrology shampoo. This also defeats the purpose of this shampoo and conditioner combo. However, when I use the conditioner after a regular shampoo – which doesn’t expand like crazy on my head – it’s absolutely fine.

Would I buy these products again? Maybe. But I definitely wouldn’t use them together again. Saying this, I can see that these two products would work really well together on hair that is not long, thick and curly, so if you’ve got fine or straight hair, you might love these products. L’Oréal Fibrology Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner are available as 250 ml for £2.99 each and 400 ml for £3.99 each.

The Battle of the Melons: Grace Cole Fruit Works Watermelon & Pink Grapefruit vs. Superdrug Kids Head To Toe Wash Melon

Hi there! After the battle of the limes and the battle of the lemons, the Battle of the Melons is now on! 🙂 I bought this Grace Cole Fruit Works Watermelon & Pink Grapefruit shower gel ages ago, but I left it untouched until I realised that I also had this melon-scented Superdrug Kids Head To Toe Wash. So I thought it’s time for another product comparison!

OK, one’s a watermelon, the other one’s more of a honeydew melon – so how can these two be compared? Well, I love all melons equally, so I’ll be impartial. Promise! But now on to the actual reviews…
Grace Cole vs SD Watermelon
Grace Cole Fruit Works Watermelon & Pink Grapefruit smells pretty much of watermelon only. I think the scent is not unpleasant, but it’s very generic and forgettable. In my opinion this shower gel is quite expensive (£4) for what it is. I paid 99p only, so I won’t complain. However, I wouldn’t buy it again. Saying this, scents are personal, so the next person might love it.

Superdrug Kids Head To Toe Wash is not perfect either. The shower gel is quite thin, so it spills out of the tube the moment you open it. As this product is aimed at kids, I think it would be better if Superdrug changed the packaging (but keep the elephant and the mouse, please) to a bottle with a lid on top to prevent unintended spilling. In regards to the actual shower gel, it’s very gentle and soft which is great if you have dry or sensitive skin. The sunny honeydew melon scent is very authentic – well done, Superdrug!

In my opinion Superdrug Kids Head To Toe Wash is the winner of the Battle of the Melons. It feels nicer on the skin (well, it’s for kids after all), the fragrance is more intense and, priced at £1.29 it’s a bargain in comparison to the Grace Cole shower gel. In addition, the Superdrug shower gel is BUAV-approved and carries the Leaping Bunny logo – it’s suitable for vegans and it’s cruelty-free.
