Nail Of The Day – Revlon Colorstay 040 Provence & Stamping

Revlon Provence Stamping QA88Hi there! Today’s mani is a simple one. As usual, I didn’t have much time so I went with a random boring base colour and an easy all-over stamping pattern.

My base colour is Revlon Colorstay 040 Provence – a greyish pale lavender shade. It came out quite grey in the photo. But in reality it’s the colour of Twilight Sparkle. Well, almost. 🙂

What’s really great about Revlon Provence is that the colour is fully opaque in two easy coats. I’m really impressed!

I used my favourite black, Revlon Colorstay Stiletto, to stamp on images from my QA88 plate. The plate features an all-over floral pattern, so it’s great if you want to do a simple mani.

I think the images could have turned out nicer. But I was in a hurry and I’ve got the feeling my QA88 plate isn’t really the best quality. Anyway, the mani was good enough for a day. And one of my colleagues actually complimented me on my nails!

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Silky Smoother Shampoo & Conditioner

Hi there! Today’s post is about Garnier’s Ultimate Blends The Silky Smoother shampoo and conditioner which I’ve been using for the past few weeks. These products are aimed at people with longer hair and split ends.

I don’t have split ends, so I can’t tell you if these products would help with this problem. But I’ll tell you what I think about this shampoo and conditioner combo in general.
Garnier Vanilla
The Silky Smoother shampoo is gentle on my hair and scalp. And I love the vanilla and papaya fragrance. What I don’t like is that this shampoo makes my hair feel knotty and unflexible as soon as I’m lathering it up. So when I rinse out the shampoo my hair is a knotty and unflexible mess.

The Silky Smoother conditioner is not very effective. Again, it smells absolutely lovely, but the product is too thin and not very conditioning at all. I have to double-condition, sometimes even triple-condition (!) just to detangle the knots. And keep in mind, the shampoo is causing the majority of the knots in the first place…

In summary, I don’t think you’d be happy with these products if you have long, thick and curly hair (like me). It might be different if your hair is straight or thin (or both) though.

I’m glad I finished the conditioner. And my husband will use up the shampoo. My husband actually loves this shampoo, and he said he’d definitely want me to buy it again for him – but he has short hair, and he admits he’s totally drawn to the vanilla fragrance.

If you want to give Garnier’s Ultimate Blends The Silky Smoother shampoo and conditioner a try, these products are available as 400 ml each for about £3.99 – but there’s always a half price or BOGOF offer somewhere. These products are also available in a smaller size – 250 ml shampoo and 200 ml conditioner – for about £2.79 each.

Rimmel Glitter Topper Haul

Hi there! Here’s another non-review post. I went to the new B&M Bargains store near my place. They didn’t have many beauty products, but they had Rimmel glitter toppers – in bags of 2 for £1.99 each. That’s a total of £3.98 for four glitter toppers. Not bad!
Rimmel Glitter Toppers
I picked these glitter toppers: Rimmel Glitter 021 Bedazzle, Rimmel Love Glitter 032 All Glittered Up, 031 Mistletoe Mischief, 030 Queen of Bling. I think All Glittered Up and Mistletoe Mischief look very promising. I can’t wait to play with them!

Kawaii Alert – PART 2! Positively Fruity Body Lotions – Smells Like Sunny Strawberries, Smells Like Wild Cherries, Smells Like Tropical Showers

Hi there! Not too long ago I told you what I think about Positively Fruity’s body washes. And now that I’ve tried the matching body lotions, I can tell you what I think about these products as well.

So here they are – Positively Fruity Smells Like Sunny Strawberries, Smells Like Wild Cherries, and Smells Like Tropical Showers. These body lotions share a few qualities – they all contain glycerin and aloe leaf juice which is nice. They’re a bit sticky, but they leave my skin moisturised for hours. Now let’s get to the scents!
Positively Fruity Body Lotions
Smells Like Sunny Strawberries hardly smells of anything. If you look for a body moisturiser with a long-lasting strawberry scent, look elsewhere because this isn’t it. Compared to the lovely body wash, this body lotion is quite a let down.

Smells Like Wild Cherries smells faintly of cherries. I was hoping this lotion would smell gorgeous – but the cherry scent is hardly noticeable. It’s better than the strawberry lotion, but unfortunately that doesn’t mean much.

In terms of intensity, Smells Like Tropical Showers is the best of the three. However, the scent is still quite faint. And if I hadn’t tested the other two lotions first, I’d probably complain about the lack of fragrance in this lotion.

All in all, I think I wouldn’t recommend the body lotions. They’re decent moisturisers, but the fragrances are hardly noticeable at all. Priced at £1 these Positively Fruity Body Lotions look like they’re good value, but they come in small 150ml tubes only. So they’re not really that good a deal if you keep in mind that Poundland stocks branded body lotions and body butters (i.e. I Love…, Vaseline, etc) in larger bottles or tubs – for the same price…

Vegan & Cruelty-Free – Superdrug Simply Pure Smoothing Face Scrub

Superdrug Simply Pure Face Scrub 2Hi there! Superdrug has a relatively new product line. It’s called Simply Pure and it’s aimed at people with sensitive skin. Superdrug ran a half price promotion recently, so I thought I’d give some of these new products a try.

I’ve now used Superdrug’s Simply Pure Smoothing Face Scrub for a few times and I’m really happy with it.

First of all, this scrub doesn’t contain crushed apricot seeds or walnut shells which have become unpopular because they’re very harsh and they can cause tiny cuts on the skin’s surface.

So this scrub would be great for those who look for a non-abrasive and gentle facial scrub that won’t harm their skin.

The Simply Pure scrub won’t give your face the ‘St. Ives treatment’, but I think it’s definitely effective. And it’s very gentle and doesn’t aggravate my sensitive skin. So I could probably use it every day if I wanted to.

I would definitely recommend Superdrug’s Simply Pure Smoothing Face Scrub – not only to people with sensitive skin, but to everyone. If you have sensitive skin, you’ll probably be glad to hear this scrub is fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. In addition, it also doesn’t contain methylisothiazolinone, so that’s another potential irritant you don’t need to worry about.

Superdrug’s Simply Pure Smoothing Face Scrub is available as 75ml for £2.69. Mine was £1.29, so I’d recommend you keep your eyes peeled for better than half price promotions. 🙂

Nail Of The Day – NYC In A Minute 264 Lincoln Square Lavender & Stamping

032016 NYC Lincoln Square Lavender plus stamping 10Hi there! Today’s post is another NOTD. I bought a few new stamping plates and I had to try them right away.

My base colour is NYC In A Minute 264 Lincoln Square Lavender – one of my current favourite polishes.

I tried out two images from two stamping plates – JQ03 and JQ48.

The images on my middle finger and pinky are from the JQ03 plate. The image looked amazing on the plate. But once I stamped it on, I thought it was too dense.

On my ring finger and index I stamped on images from the JQ48 plates. I really like how these turned out. I think these images are great for colouring them in!

I’ve got all kinds of plates from Pueen, MoYou, Konad, etc. But I’d love to hear which plates you love! Please feel free to let me know in the comments. 🙂

NSPA Orient

Hi there! Today’s post is about NSPA’s Orient fragrance. I’ve been on the hunt (!) for NSPA’s fragrance collection for almost a year. And just a few days ago – when I least expected it – I found exactly one bottle of NSPA’s Orient at my local Asda. Of course, it went straight in my basket. 🙂

Now let’s look at the fragrance. NSPA’s web site says it contains the following fragrant notes: orchids, amber, silk, lily, vanilla, musk and mandarin oil. So is it any good? If you read on, you’ll find out.
NSPA Orient
I think Orient is a beautiful, elegant and grown-up floriental fragrance. It reminds me of all those classic violet and vanilla perfumes. But Orient is more elegant and modern because – instead of violets – it features sensual aromas of orchids on a warm bed of vanilla, amber and musk. Orient is a very enjoyable interpretation of a classic floriental fragrance. Well done, NSPA!

NSPA Orient is available as 50 ml Eau de Toilette. I got my Orient fragrance for £4, but I think the actual RRP is £8. Either way, this one’s a real bargain!
