Hi there! Today’s post is a short one about the mani I did the other day. I think it’s not spectacular at all, but my husband really liked it. So I hope a few of you will like it too. 🙂
Let’s start! I painted my nails with NYC In A Minute 900 Wonder Purple (2 coats). This gorgeous polish cost me 33p only – it came in a trio pack for £1 (yes, three polishes = £1 in total at Poundworld). Now that’s what I call a bargain!
The stamped-on image is from Pueen’s 80 plate – which is part of Pueen’s Buffet Leisure collection. Pueen’s 80 plate features several images of roses – yet somehow I managed to stamp on the exact same rose on every nail. Funny…
Pueen’s 80 plate isn’t my favourite stamping plate. It’s nice to look at, but the images aren’t as nice when they’re stamped on. I don’t know why. I think I should give it another try – and maybe use different colours (something rosey…) and see how that goes.
Oh, before I forget… this time I used another NYC polish to stamp on the images. Normally I use Revlon Colorstay Stiletto, but I misplaced it (so much for bringing my beauty stash in order…). So today I used NYC In A Minute 001 Evil. It’s not the best black polish for stamping, but it’s OK.
Feel free to let me know what you think. And thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Nice work! How do the stamps work? I’ve had one from Essence but it totally failed, all the colours were fading through each other…

Thanks for stopping by.
I’m not sure what you mean. Have you had a problem with the stamper/scraper, the stamping plate or the polish? If you could elaborate on the issue, I’ll see if I can help. 🙂

Hmmm, I’m not sure what the problem might be, so I can just share some general stuff… when you pick up the stamper from the plate, don’t press the stamper onto the plate, but DO ‘roll on’ the image.
And it’s often easier not to stamp the image onto the nail, but to press the nail onto the stamper.
And if there’s a problem with colours looking washed out, it’s probably the polish. Not every polish works for stamping. You don’t have to invest in all kinds of different stamping polishes, but I would definitely recommend Essence’s awesome stamping polishes in black and white – they’re £1.49 only! You might also want to test which of your polishes stamp well – just try them all by stamping random images on white paper.
When you want to stamp a lighter colour onto a dark polish, it gets really tricky.I do have a few polishes which work for this purpose – but most of my lighter polishes don’t work on the darker ones = they’re hardly visible.
If you want to do try all your polishes (and depending on how many you have), it might be a good idea to buy nail wheels (they’re like £2 for 10 wheels).
As a general rule… when you try out your polishes for stamping, forget the ones that aren’t opaque or at least almost opaque in one coat. They’re simply too thin and not well pigmented – so they won’t work well.
The next time you stamp, take photos along the way (including what the image looks like on the stamper before you ‘stamp’ it on) – and I’m sure we’ll sort this out in five minutes.
I’ve stamped for years and I’ve encountered so many issues along the way that I’m sure whatever the problem is, I’ve had it too at some point.
But yeah, seriously, do another mani, take pics – and we’ll get to the bottom of things! 🙂

Sigh. Your nails are so beautiful. I am surely going to try this stamping procedure too. Have never done that . Thanks for introducing that 🙂 Any tips for beginners ? 😉

Hey hun, sorry I’m only getting back now. I think I might do a ‘how to stamp’ post including different stampers, scrapers, plates, polishes etc. There are a few tricks and I’m happy to share them. I’ll let you know when the post is up. 🙂
