Nutrafix Keratin Hair Mask

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Nutrafix Keratin Hair Mask which I found at my local Poundland store. This hair mask with keratin, vitamin B5 and wheat protein promises to heal damaged roots and split ends in order to restore hair’s natural beauty.

The instructions state… wash your hair, towel it dry, apply the hair mask, cover your hair with a warm towel, leave the mask on for 5 minutes, then rinse and follow up with a conditioner (from the same brand, of course).

I’ve given this hair mask a try, and I think it’s one of the worst hair products I’ve ever had. Its awfulness is comparable with the awfulness of Naked Colour and Naturtint. And here’s why:

I applied a generous amount of product. Unfortunately, it turned my hair into an unflexible mess pretty much immediately. I applied some more product hoping it would help, but it didn’t. When I rinsed the product 5 minutes later, I tried to detangle my hair – gently – with my fingers, but it was impossible. The hair mask turned my hair into a knotty mess. Awful!

To make a long story short, in the end I had to double-condition my hair just to get the knots out. I lost 3 times as much hair as I normally do, and I probably wasted around 20-30 litres of water because I had to rinse my hair 4 times (shampoo, hair mask, conditioner x2).

I’m usually against binning stuff because most of the time I can find a way to repurpose an unloved product, but there was no point trying to find a raison d’être for this hair mask. I threw it out. If you’d like to try it, Nutrafix Keratin Hair Mask is available as 150ml for £1 (Poundland).

    • Yes, it was awful. I bought another hair mask from this brand a while ago, I hope the other one’s better. Fingers crossed!

I’ve never tried coconut products on my hair, but you’re not the first person to tell me it messes with hair. 😫
