August Beauty Awards

Hi there! It’s the last working day of the month, so today’s post is about my current beauty favourites. As always, I’ve picked my favourites from all the products I reviewed this past month. I’ll start with the TOP 3, but I’ve thrown in a few honourable mentions as well.

3rd place – Superdrug B. Vitalised Vitamin Facial Spritz
This is a lovely face mist that I can’t wait to buy again.

Runner-Up – Boots Botanics All Bright Hydrating Day Cream SPF 15
Boots did a fantastic job with this day cream. It hydrates my skin deeply, and I really love it!

WINNER – Superdrug Deep Action Extreme Skin Brightening Solution
This is the best skin brightening product I’ve ever tried. Priced at £5.99, it’s a total steal!

Onto the honourable mentions! I love Boots’ Botanics All Bright Cleansing Foam Wash (which came in 4th), Original Source’s Hydrating Water Infusions Grapefruit & Mint is just fabulous, and Good Things Spa’s Manuka Honey Nourishing Body Wash is super lovely.

I’m enjoying Manhattan’s Lip Jelly, I adore the 3 Max Factor Eyeshadows I’m using at the moment, and I fell in love with Superdrug’s B. Vivid 058 Filigree Eyeshadow.

Have you tried any of these products? Or would you like to try any of them? Which products have you been loving lately? Feel free to get in touch via the comments. And thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Treacle Moon One Ginger Morning Shower & Bath Gel

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Treacle Moon One Ginger Morning Shower & Bath Gel.

It’s been quite hot ☀️ 🥵 since last Friday, so I thought I could try another refreshing shower gel.

And since I’m already using 2 Treacle Moon shower gels at the moment, I thought I might as well make it 3!

So how’s the shower gel? I like it a lot! It’s a great shower gel that wakes you up in the morning, and the fresh and green ginger fragrance is perfect in this hot wearther.

My husband’s enjoying this shower gel too, so I’m happy to say this one will be repurchased next summer!

Treacle Moon One Ginger Morning Shower & Bath Gel is available as 500ml for £3. I paid £1.50 (special offer, Tesco).

Nail Of The Day – Rimmel Lycra Pro 313 Cocktail Passion & Stamping

Hi there! Today’s post is about a mani I did not too long ago. I thought I’d share this summery mani before we have to say goodbye to the summer of ’19.

For this mani I painted my nails with Rimmel Lycra Pro 313 Cocktail Passion (2 coats). I like this polish a lot because the colour is simply gorgeous, and I like Rimmel’s Lycra Pro formula in general.

For the images I used my unbranded FLOWERS 02 stamping plate. I don’t remember which polish I stamped with. I just picked the first black polish I could find because I had trouble locating my black Revlon polish that day. Typical, I know! 🤣

Max Factor Wild Shadow Pots 20 Golden Amazon, 75 Smouldering Red, 80 Passionate Violet, Essence Blush Up! 10 Heat Wave, NYC New York Color HD Color Trio Eyeshadow 002 Feelin’ Fab, Superdrug B. Vivid Eyeshadow 172 Neptune, 058 Filigree, 139 Regalia

Hi there! Today’s post is about a number of eye and cheek products I’m using at the moment. I don’t want to do a big intro today, so let’s start with the first 3 products – Max Factor Wild Shadow Pots. The shades are 20 Golden Amazon, 75 Smouldering Red and 80 Passionate Violet.

I like these 3 eyeshadows a lot, and I’m glad I was able to pick them up for £1 each (Poundland). I’m very happy with the quality of these eyeshadows!

And here are the swatches! 20 Golden Amazon is a bright shimmery gold, 75 Smouldering Red is a cute rosey shade with a light shimmer, and 80 Passionate Violet is a very sparkly violet shade with wannabe-holographic hues.

Up next is a beautiful blush – Essence Blush Up! 10 Heat Wave! This is a powder blush that I’ve had for a while, but I only started to use it recently.

The blush looks pretty, and the quality is fantastic too. The blush is easy to blend, and it’s highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way.  And I love the coral-to-raspberry shade(s).

I tried to capture the beautiful gradient in my swatch. It wasn’t easy, and I could have done better, but I think I did just well enough. It’s a powder blush after all!

And I started to use one of the cheap NYC compacts I found at Poundland. This one’s NYC New York Color HD Color Trio Eyeshadow 002 Feelin’ Fab.

The trio contains 3 eyeshadows – a glittery silver shade which isn’t for everyday wear, a soft shimmery bronze which is very pretty and lovely to wear, and a blue-to-violet shade which, to be perfectly honest, was disappointing because it’s poorly pigmented. By the time this post is published, this eyeshadow will have been repurposed (mixed with a blue nail polish to make stamping polish).

And there are 3 more single eyeshadows – Superdrug B. Vivid Eyeshadow 172 Neptune, 058 Filigree and 139 Regalia.

I purchased these eyeshadows when they were 10p each (clearance), and I actually bought 3 of each colour – that’s 9 single eyeshadows for 90p in total! 🤪

172 Neptune is a shimmery royal blue shade, 058 Filigree is a beautiful golden olive shimmer and 139 Regalia is a matte purple eyeshadow. Unfortunately, Regalia is quite a stinker. It doesn’t stick to anything, and it cannot be used as an eyeshadow at all. This is another product which, by the time you read this post, will have found a new life as a stamping polish!

And this is it for today! I enjoyed reviewing a number of products in 1 post. I hope you like the format too, because I will continue to do this for products like eyeshadows, blushes, lip balms and the likes.

Have you tried any of these products? Or would you like to try them? Feel free to comment, and thanks for reading!

Montagne Jeunesse Face Food Orange Oil & Vitamin C Peel-Off Masque AND Cucumber & Apple Reviving Masque

Hi there! Today I’m reviewing a face mask duo – Montagne Jeunesse’s Face Food Orange Oil & Vitamin C Peel-Off Masque and Cucumber & Apple Reviving Masque. I found this face mask duo at my local Savers drugstore, and I think it was 69p only which is a total bargain for any face mask!

Montagne Jeunesse Face Food Orange Oil & Vitamin C Peel-Off Masque claims to peel away impurities and dead skin cells. It contains vitamin C as well as a number of botanical extracts. I don’t care for the cheap orange fragrance, but I think this is a decent face mask that made my skin feel feel softer.

Montagne Jeunesse Face Food Cucumber & Apple Reviving Masque promises to give skin a deep cleanse. I think this is an effective clay mask that does what it claims to do. This mask left my skin feeling refreshed and purified, and I was happy with the result.

Montagne Jeunesse’s Face Food Orange Oil & Vitamin C Peel-Off Masque and Cucumber & Apple Reviving Masque are available as a face mask duo. I’ve seen (and purchased) other varieties, so if you’d like to try new face masks, you might want to swing by your local Savers drugstore. 😊

100% Vegan & Cruelty-Free – Superdrug Pink Clay Purifying Mask

Hi there! Today’s post is about Superdrug‘s Pink Clay Purifying Mask.

This face mask contains mineral-enriched rosa clay. It claims to draw out impurities and to absorb excess oils, and to leave skin feeling fresher and looking brighter. This sounds promising!

This mask is easy to use – apply it to cleansed skin, leave it on for 15-20 minutes, then wash off. The usual.

I’ve given this mask a try, and I like it. Whilst it didn’t brighten skin, I’m happy to confirm that this mask gave my skin a deep cleanse.

I also liked that the mask didn’t make my skin feel uncomfortable at any point.

Superdrug‘s Pink Clay Purifying Mask is available as 15ml for 99p, but Superdrug runs a 3 for 2 promotion on face masks most of the time. This face mask is also certified cruelty-free (it carries the Leaping Bunny logo), and it’s suitable for vegans.

Nail Of The Day – Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Ion & Stamping With Sugar Bubbles 031

Hi there! Today’s post is about a mani I did a little while ago.

For this mani I painted my nails with Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Ion (3 coats). This is a terrible polish. The formula is chalky, the polish takes ages to dry, the polish is prone to chipping, and the colour is just awful. 😧

Nail colours like this one always look best when you see as little as possible of them. And that’s why I decided to stamp!

I used the super beautiful Sugar Bubbles 031 stamping plate. The dark blue polish I stamped with is Filthy Gorgeous Midnight.

Whilst I didn’t love the mani, I think it looked alright. But I do love marine manis, and I think the sea, beach and flip flops theme fits the season. 🙂

Another thing: If you’re wondering how stamping works, I’ve done a tutorial on everything you need to know  – and everything I wish I had known when I started to stamp. Don’t worry, you’ll figure out stamping in an hour, but the tutorial will answer all the questions that you will have about stampers, scrapers, polishes, stamping plates, extra stuff you might need and everything else really! The tutorial is here.

And I also did a post on how I made my own stamping polish. This post can be found here.

100% Vegan – Original Source Hydrating Water Infusions Apple & Melon, Original Source Hydrating Water Infusions Grapefruit & Mint

Hi there! Today I’m reviewing 2 shower gels – Original Source Hydrating Water Infusions Apple & Melon and Original Source Hydrating Water Infusions Grapefruit & Mint. I bought these shower gels (and a few others) a few weeks ago when they were on special.

Original Source Hydrating Water Infusions Apple & Melon smells like ripe honeydew melon. I was hoping for a more refreshing fragrance, but all in all, this is a pleasant fruity shower gel. I also agree that the shower gel is mildly hydrating which is nice.

Original Source Hydrating Water Infusions Grapefruit & Mint feels mildly hydrating too. However, the mint and grapefruit fragrance is much better! This shower gel smells refreshing, herbal and green. I’m enjoying this one very much!

Original Source Hydrating Water Infusions Apple & Melon and Original Source Hydrating Water Infusions Grapefruit & Mint are available as 250ml. I paid 95p each (special offer, Tesco). These shower gels are approved by The Vegan Society!

Boots Botanics All Bright Hydrating Day Cream SPF15

Hi there! Today’s post is about the face cream I’m using at the moment – Boots Botanics All Bright Hydrating Day Cream with SPF 15. This face cream for people with normal to dry skin promises to brighten and protect skin for 24 hours. I’ve been using this face cream for a few weeks now, and here’s what I think.

I’m enjoying this day cream very much! I can’t comment on whether it’s actually brightening (my face has reached maximum brightness levels since I started using Superdrug’s Skin Brightening Solution almost 2 months ago). However, I think this day cream is very good because it feels rich and insanely moisturising, and it plays amazingly well with my foundation (Max Factor Pan Stik). I think Boots did a fantastic job with this day cream!

Boots Botanics All Bright Day Cream with SPF15 is available as 50ml for £6.99. I paid £2.50 (clearance, old packaging).
