April Beauty Awards

Hi there! Welcome to Mrs Strawberry Blonde’s April Beauty Awards. Well, this post is about my favourite products in April. I chose my favourites from all the products I reviewed this month. I’m starting with the TOP 3, but there are quite few honourable mentions too!

3rd place – Palmolive Aroma Moments So Relaxed Bath Foam
Runner-Up – Yves Rocher Monoï Lagoon Moisturizing Perfumed Body Mist

Palmolive’s So Relaxed is one of my all-time favourite shower and bath products. The fragrance is outstanding!
Yves Rocher did a fantastic job with their Monoï body mist. I’m glad I have several bottles in my stash!

WINNER – Scinic Vita Ade Eye Cream

Scinic’s eye cream is one of my two all-time favourite eye creams. It’s simply marvellous!

Onto the honourable mentions! Alberto Balsam’s Zesty Orange Shampoo & Conditioner are amazing! They came really close to getting into my top 3! Primark’s PS… Charcoal. Detox, Purify & Cleanse Bubble Sheet Mask was lovely, and Primark’s PS… Prep & Perfect Glow Priming Sheet Mask was great too!

I was impressed with Beauty Formulas’ Radiate & Glow Facial Mask, and I’m enjoying Body-X’s Twilight Amber Shower Gel and Rightguard’s Shower + Oils Purple Orchid Shower Gel.

Wow, those are lots of great products! I didn’t think it would be this many, but those cheap face masks and shower gels were unexpectedly lovely! Have you tried any of these products? Or would you like to try any of them? Feel free to get in touch via the comments, and thanks for stopping by! 😘

Skin Treats Clay Purifying Face Mask With Avocado

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Skin Treats Purifying Face Mask With Avocado.

This face mask promises to give skin a deep cleanse. At the same time it claims to nourish skin with avocado oil. The promised result is refreshed and rejuvenated skin. Sounds good!

You’re supposed to apply this mask to cleansed skin and to leave it on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse – job done!

I’ve given this mask a try, and I don’t think it does much. I loved the bright colour of the mask (think neon version of The Incredible Hulk), but I don’t think that the mask gave my skin a deep cleanse.

I won’t buy this mask again. If you’re interested, Skin Treats Purifying Face Mask With Avocado is available as 25ml for 89p (I believe that’s what I paid at Home Bargains).

Nail Of The Day – NYC In A Minute 019 A Perfect Day, Rimmel 60 Seconds 503 Mind The Gap Victoria, Glitter & Stamping With Bundle Monster Secret Garden BM 717

Hi there! I hope everyone had a good weekend. Today’s post is about a mani I did earlier this month.

For this mani I painted my nails with NYC In A Minute 019 A Perfect Day (2 coats, pinkies, ring fingers) and Rimmel 60 Seconds 503 Mind The Gap Victoria (2 coats, middle and index fingers, thumbs).

I used a rainbow glitter top coat to add colour to the grey nails. That cute glitter top coat is Barry M Amethyst Glitter.

For the images on the blue nails I used my Maniology (formerly Bundle Monster) Secret Garden BM 717 stamping plate. I stamped with a random black polish.

100% Vegan & Cruelty-Free – Sukin Nourishing Chia Seed Oil & Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser

Hi there! Today’s post is about 2 skin care products that I’m using at the moment – Sukin Nourishing Chia Seed Oil & Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser. I bought a set containing these 2 products for £7.99 a little while ago – this was a total bargain because the 25ml chia seed oil alone was £14.95 back then. Thanks, TK Maxx!

Now let’s look at the products! Sukin Nourishing Chia Seed Oil for all skin types is rich in omega 3 and 6, amino acids, antioxidants and phytonutrients. Sukin recommends the oil be applied to the face once or twice a day. However, they also recommend patch testing before you start using this product – I think this is generally the right thing to do!

I’ve used this facial oil since the beginning of March, and I think it’s good but not great. This is a heavy oil that isn’t easy to spread. I use it in conjunction with a face mist, and this helps a lot! I do agree that the oil is nourishing, and it helps boost my current night cream. But I don’t like the strong fragrance (which is 100% natural), so I wouldn’t buy another chia seed oil.

I’ve been using Sukin’s Foaming Facial Cleanser since the beginning of the month, and I think it’s nice. I use this clear gel cleanser with a konjac sponge in the morning, and even though it doesn’t have SLS, it lathers up well. It seems to remove dirt effectively without drying out my skin. And despite it containing a number of oils, it doesn’t make my skin oily.

What else? This cleanser is bursting with natural ingredients – aloe vera, chamomile, tea tree, witch hazel, evening primrose, rosehip, avocado, wheat germ, sesame, lavender, etc. Good stuff! If you’re interested, Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser is available as 125ml for £7.95.

Body-X Twilight Amber & Rightguard Shower + Oils Purple Orchid

Hi there! Today’s post is about 2 shower gels I’m using at the moment – Body-X Twilight Amber Shower Gel and Rightgard Shower + Oils Purple Orchid Shower Gel. I bought these shower gels on the same day, so I’m revieweing them in one go as well.

Let’s start with Body-X Twilight Amber Shower Gel. Now this is another amazing shower gel from Body-X. It’s my favourite of the ones I tried to far. It has a beautiful floral fragrance with a touch of fruit and honey. I’m enjoying this shower gel very much, and my husband likes it too!

Rightgard Shower + Oils Purple Orchid Shower Gel is simply wonderful. It’s super gentle on the skin, and it has a beautiful dark and cold orchid and lavender scent. My husband and I are enjoying this shower gel too!

Body-X Twilight Amber Shower Gel is available as 500ml. I paid £1 (B&M Bargains), and Rightgard Shower + Oils Purple Orchid Shower Gel is available as 300ml. I paid £1 for this one too (yes, B&M Bargains as well).

100% Cruelty-Free – Primark PS… Prep & Perfect Glow Priming Sheet Mask

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Primark PS… Prep & Perfect Glow Priming Sheet Mask. This mask is bio-degradable, and it contains pearl extract, witch hazel as well as vitamin E, and it promises to reveal skin’s natural glow.

This mask is a normal leave-on sheet mask. Just cleanse your skin, place the mask on your face, lay back and enjoy the mask for 15-20 minutes, then massage the leftover essence into your skin.

I’ve given this mask a try, and I think it’s really good. The essence was hydrating and mildly refreshing, and I noticed that my skin looked all nice and plumped up. This was great!

Having said this, the mask has a strong lotus root fragrance. Lotus and waterlily scents are some of my least favourite scents in cosmetic products, so I won’t buy this mask again. However, if you don’t mind this kind of scent, I’d recommend this face mask!

Primark PS… Prep & Perfect Glow Priming Sheet Mask is available as a 23g single-use face mask for 80p. This mask is certified cruelty-free. It carries the Leaping Bunny logo!

Nail Of The Day – Ciaté Play Date, Revlon Nail Art Expressionist 330 Silhouette, Glitter & Stamping With Bundle Monster Secret Garden BM 720

Hi there! Happy Monday. I’ve got a Nail Of The Day post for you today. 🙂

For this mani I painted my nails with Ciaté Play Date (pinkies, ring fingers, 2 coats) and Revlon Nail Art Expressionist 330 Silhouette (the beige one – middle and index fingers, thumbs, 2 coats).

The subtle gold glitter on the pinkies and ring fingers is Essie As Gold As It Gets.

For the images on the thumbs, index and middle fingers I used a random black nail polish. The stamping plate is Bundle Monster Secret Garden BM 720. A quick note in case you’re wondering: Bundle Monster is now Maniology.

I liked this mani. It was a mix of 2 manis which – on their own – would have bored me senseless in less than a day. But I did like the mix!

Monotheme White Gardenia Eau De Toilette

Hi there! Today’s post is about a fragrance – Monotheme White Gardenia Eau de Toilette. I’m a fan of exotic gardenia fragrances (the ones without coconut), so when I found this one, I thought I should give it a try.

This fragrance has tangerine and bergamot as top notes, gardenia as its heart note, and woods and musk as base notes. Alrighty! Onto the review!

Well, this fragrance is a huge disappointment. I knew this wouldn’t be a tropical fragrance, but I was still was hoping for a dense, creamy gardenia fragrance. Instead I got a transparent (yet strangely dusty) and soapy fragrance that’s pretty much a mix of the most random floral notes that have nothing to do with gardenias.

The fragrance smells cheaply done and quite dated, and the only thing that’s missing for it to be a total disaster is aldehydes – the synthetic stuff that many 1980s fragrance nightmares are made of. Although to be fair, the 80s had plenty of amazing perfumes which would mop the floor with a lot of what you can find in department stores now…

Anyhoo, White Gardenia is not a fragrance I can see myself wearing. I’ll give it to the first person at work who wants it. If you’re interested, Monotheme White Gardenia Eau de Toilette is available as 100ml. I paid £18 (M&S).
