June Beauty Awards

Hi there! It’s the last day of the month, and this means that today’s post is about my favourite products in June. As always, I picked my Top 3 and the honourable mentions from all the products I reviewed this past month. Let’s start with the Top 3!

3rd place – DearBoo Collagen & Canola Flower Everyday Mask

This DearBoo face mask is simply amazing. I love it! I tried 2 different masks from this brand, and I think they’re both bulk-purchase worthy!

Runner-Up – Superdrug Vitamin E Skin Care Smoothing All Over Body Cream With Acacia Collagen

This body cream is simply outstanding! The texture, the feel, the fragrance – everything’s wow!

WINNER – Herbal Essences Moisture Balance Shampoo & Conditioner

I’ve never loved any hair product the way I’ve loved (and continue to love) Herbal Essences’ original shampoos and conditioners. I think these products truly mop with the floor with pretty much everything else out there!

Now let’s get to the honourable mentions! I’m impressed with Poundland’s Retinol Serum and Poundland’s Retinol Night Cream. Boots’ No7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator is another fantastic product which I’m still enjoying.

Imperial Leather’s Tropical Rainforest & Exotic Papaya Shower Gel is one of the best shower gels I’ve used so far this year (and it’s probably in the top 10 of shower gels I’ve used over the past 2 years). And NSPA’s Detoxifying Clay Mask With Charcoal & Menthol was awesome too!

Have you tried any of these products, or would you like to try any of them? Which products have you been loving lately? Feel free to let me know via the comments, and thanks for stopping by! x

Olay Anti-Wrinkle Face Wash With Exfoliating Particles

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Olay Anti-Wrinkle Face Wash With Exfoliating Particles.

This face wash is aimed at women who are 40+, and it promises to remove make-up and impurities, to improve skin texture, to reduce the look of lines and wrinkles, and to promote the natural skin cell renewal process for younger looking skin.

I’ve been using this face wash for a few weeks now, and I like it.

This is a cream wash with exfoliatig particles. The exfoliating effect isn’t very strong, but that’s OK (and expected) since it’s supposed to be used daily.

I use this face wash every morning in the shower, and I’m happy to report that it’s also gentle, creamy and refreshing.

Based on my experience, I’d recommend it! If you’re interested, Olay Anti-Wrinkle Face Wash With Exfoliating Particles. is available as 150ml for £4.19. I paid £2.09 (special offer at Boots which was still on last time I checked on 20 June).

Nail Of The Day – Sally Hansen Sonic Bloom & Gosh Cracked Nail Lacquer 04 Gold (Nail Fail)

Hi there! Today’s post is a Nail Of The Day post. And it’s also a Nail Fail.

For this mani I painted my nails with Sally Hansen Sonic Bloom (1 coat). This polish is a true one-coater. It’s amazing!

The crackle polish I used is Gosh Cracked Nail Lacquer 04 Gold. This crackle polish is awful! I applied it well over an hour after I had applied the base colour.

The base colour was 100% dry. However, the crackle polish still managed to somehow suck some of the base colour off of my nails, leaving my nails with “bald spots”. I’m sure you can tell that I was not impressed!

I’m not going to use this crackle top coat again. I have another one from the same brand, but I’m not really looking forward to giving that one a try!

Mad Beauty Toy Story Little Green Men Face Mask

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Mad Beauty Toy Story Little Green Men Face Mask with apple which claims to help promote a radiant and glowing complexion. With this sheet mask, you’re supposed to cleanse your face first, then put the mask on and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Then you’re supposed to give your face a quick rinse to get rid of any mask residue.

I’ve given this mask a try, and I found it to be nothing special. I don’t think it had any effect on my skin, but I’m happy to report that it smelled better than some of the other Mad Beauty masks I tried over the past few months. The mask also didn’t look as grotesque as the other Mad Beauty masks that I used.

However, it still wasn’t a good mask, and I wouldn’t buy it again. I have 1 Mad Beauty mask left to try, and based on the 7 I had so far, I don’t think that I’ll pick up any more masks from this brand any time soon.

If you’re interested, Mad Beauty Toy Story Little Green Men Face Mask is available as a single-use 25ml face mask for £1.50 (sale price).

Nail Of The Day – Barry M Molten Metal Holographic Rocket & Stamping With Maniology BM-XL217

Hi there! Today’s post is about a mani I did last week.

For this mani I painted my nails with Barry M Molten Metal Holographic Rocket (2 coats).

I love Barry M’s entire Molten Metal collection – it’s just 4 polishes in total, but they’re all holographic!

For the images I used my Maniology (formerly Bundle Monster) BM-XL217 stamping plate. I like this stamping plate a lot. It has plenty of beautiful floral and botanical images.

The black polish I stamped with is the beautiful Revlon Colorstay 270 Stiletto.

Boots Ingredients Glycolic Acid Toner

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Boots Ingredients Glycolic Acid Toner which I started to use just over 3 weeks ago. I finished a powerful AHA fruit toner last month, and then I moved on to this Boots toner right after.

This toner promises brighter, renewed and more radiant looking skin. And for best results, you’re supposed to use this toner twice a day.

I can make a long story short – this toner is very disappointing. There isn’t much glycolic acid in it. Glycolic acid is listed as the 6th ingredient, right after phenoxyethanol – which is a preservative and, and its use in cosmetics is permitted up to a maximum of 1%.

If we were to assume that this toner contains the maximum permitted 1% of phenoxyethanol, the glycolic acid content in this toner is under 1%. It might even be around 0.5%. I don’t know. What I do know is that I got quite a bit of this product in my eyes by accident, and whilst I was expecting the toner to sting and burn, I felt absolutely nothing. Now please don’t do such a stunt at home. Mine was an accident. And your eyes might react differently. However, my experience reaffirmed by initial finding that this toner is very weak.

If you’ve never used glycolic acid before, you might want to start with this one, but if you love glycolic acid products already, this product will disappoint you, and in this case, you’re much better off with Superdrug’s amazing glycolic acid toner.

But if you’re interested, Boots Ingredients Glycolic Acid Toner is available as 100ml for £5, but Boots runs 3 for 2 promotions on their Ingredients collection frequently. I also picked up this toner as part of a 3 for 2 deal.

Poundland #6 Anti-Ageing Retinol Facial Serum With SPF 25

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Poundland #6 Anti-Ageing Retinol Facial Serum With SPF 25 which I’ve been using for over a month now. This serum contains retinyl palmitate, hyaluronic acid, green tea extract and shea butter. It promises to fight the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, to hydrate the skin, and to protect the skin from uv rays.

I use this serum every morning immediately after my face mist. I do this so I can lock in some extra moisture from the face mist, and I also get to massage the serum into my face and neck more easily. This serum is perfectly suitable to be used this way. It’s very hydrating, and it makes my skin feel super smooth. It also plays well with the matching day cream. In addition, it seems to help maintain my skin’s firmness and it keeps lines and wrinkles at bay.

Based on my experience, I would recommend this serum! It’s £3 for a 25ml tube which is insanely cheap if you consider the quality and the retinol content (1.5%)! Also, on the back of the pack it states that this serum is cruelty-free and suitable for vegans! 😍

Boots No7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator

Hi there! Happy Thursday! Today’s post is about this Boots No7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator which was part of a gift set I treated myself to (half price, Boxing Day).

This exfoliator is quite something – it comes with its own leaflet which features a how to use section and a separate warning section.

But it’s not as scary as it sounds – since this is a micro-dermabrasion product, it shouldn’t be used in conjunction with retinol, AHA, BHA and other exfoliating products. It’s also important to note that this product increases the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight, so you should use a sunscreen!

This is a very powerful product which should be used once to twice a week and never on 2 consecutive days.

Make sure you read the leaflet in its entirety before you use the product – just to be on the safe side!

Alrighty – let’s get to my findings! When I tried this product for the first time, it reminded me of some of the harsher scrubs. It’s a very effective exfoliator! However, unlike those harsher scrubs, this product doesn’t cut the skin – so you won’t end up with spots all over your face. This exfoliator always leaves my skin feeling insanely soft. I’m blown away! I don’t have lines or wrinkles, so I can’t comment on any potential anti-ageing effect, but judging by how powerful it is, I am more than happy to continue using this product, and I will buy the full size, no doubt!

If you’re interested, Boots No7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator is available as 75ml for £11. Boots often runs 3 for 2 promotions on their No 7 products, so this might be something to look out for! In any event, if you decide to use this product, please make sure you read the leaflet and follow the instructions!
