Revisiting Old Favourites – I Love… Chocolate Truffle Nourishing Body Butter

Hi there! Today’s post is about this I Love… Chocolate Truffle Nourishing Body Butter. This is an old favourite, so when these body butters hit the shelves of the local discount stores, I stocked up. I mean, we all know that a lot of the products that can be found at Home Bargains, B&M Bargains, etc are end of line items which have already been discontinued. So when your favourite product makes an appearance there, and it’s 80% off… well, this is your last chance!

I’ve rediscovered this body butter in my stash. And I started to use it immediately. And OMG – I love it! This body butter smells like chocolate ice cream. Proper chocolate ice cream. Whenever I use it, it fills the room with the most amazing chocolate ice cream fragrance. Even my husband loves the fragrance so much that he’s using this body butter as a hand cream.

I also love how nourishing this body butter is. It’s taken care of all the dry patches that the other moisturiser I’m using at the moment just isn’t nourishing enough for. And despite the rich formula, this body butter is quick and easy to massage into the skin, and it’s absorbed in my time.

What’s not to love? I Love… Chocolate Truffle Nourishing Body Butter is (or was) available as 200ml. Fortunately, I have a few more of these. However, I would hope that I Love… will bring this gem back. None of their current products tickle my fancy, so I hope that the brand can revive the Chocolate Truffle and the Raspberry & Blackberry collections. Fingers crossed!

100% Vegan & Cruelty-Free – Superdrug Fruity Vanilla Ice Cream Shower Gel

Hi there! Today’s super short post is about this Superdrug Fruity Vanilla Ice Cream Shower Gel.

This is a limited edition that I picked up after one of my friends told me I had to try Superdrug’s Birthday Cake shower gel. My store didn’t have the Birthday Cake shower gel, but I picked up 2 bottles of the Vanilla Ice Cream shower gel as it sounded nice enough.

I’ve been using this shower gel a few times, and whilst I don’t love it, I think it’s quite enjoyable, although I can see it getting old quickly too.

The fragrance is sweet and vanilla-like, although it doesn’t really smell like ice cream. But that’s OK. I didn’t expect that. If you like vanilla-scented toiletries, you might want to check out this shower gel.

Superdrug Fruity Vanilla Ice Cream Shower Gel is available as 250ml for £1.79. I think this is too much for a drugstore own brand shower gel.

I bought 2 shower gels on a Buy 1 Get 1 Free special promotion. Also, this shower gel is certified cruelty-free. It carries THE Leaping Bunny logo. This shower gel is also vegan!

Pure Awesomeness – Kenzo Amour Eau De Parfum

Kenzo AmourHi there! Today’s post is about this Kenzo Amour Eau De Parfum which I’ve had in my stash for ages but forgot about.

I’ve actually gone through several bottles of this fragrance in the past (before I started this blog), so this fragrance isn’t new to me. However, even though I used to love it, I kind of forgot it existed. I’m not proud of it!

Alrighty, let’s look at the notes! Kenzo Amour contains rice and white tea (top notes), frangipani, cherry blossom and heliotrope (heart notes), and vanilla, incense, musk and thanaka wood (base notes).

Kenzo Amour is the most delicious vanilla, powder and rice pudding fragrance imaginable. It couldn’t be any more beautiful. Kenzo Amour is bottled innocence, hugged by love, light, more love and warmth. It’s so special!

Based on my experience, I’d recommend this fragrance to absolutely everyone. Go and give it a sniff! Kenzo Amour Eau De Parfum is available as 30, 50 and 100ml.

Kenzo used to do different colours for the different bottle sizes. I know because I have them all (plus lots of limited editions but that’s for another day). However, I think they only do red bottles now. The one in the photo is a 100ml – the bottles used to be orange, but now they’re red. Ah well, as long as they don’t change the fragrance, I don’t mind the colour of the bottle it comes in.

Hugo Boss Pure Purple Eau De Parfum

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Hugo Boss Pure Purple Eau De Parfum which I got in a swap with a good friend.

This fragrance contains the following notes: Nectarine and cyclamen (top notes), black velvet und floral notes (heart notes), and marzipan, suede and amber (base notes). This sounds like a rather unusual and interesting combo!

I’ve worn this fragrance most days for the past 3 weeks, and I think it’s pretty in its own way, but it’s not a favourite.

When I spray it on me, Pure Purple is a cyclamen and sugar bomb. Fortunately, the sugar doesn’t cancel out the floral freshness – although it disappears within minutes. Then the fragrance gets sweeter and sweeter. I think the “velvet” and the “floral notes” are basically violets. Maybe with a hint of orris root? There’s no suede – at least I can’t smell any. The marzipan note is very strong though! And it lasts and lasts and lasts…

I wouldn’t necessarily think that this fragrance smells “purple”. It has more of a pink feel to it. Sweet pink – very suitable for teenagers. Although this fragrance is, of course, much more elegant compared to what the drugstore has to offer to teens.

If you’re interested, Hugo Boss Pure Purple Eau De Parfum is available as 50ml and 90ml. I’ve seen these 2 sizes on ebay.

Olay Anti-Wrinkle Firm & Lift Day Cream With SPF 15

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Olay Anti-Wrinkle Firm & Lift Day Cream with SPF 15. This face cream promises to hydrate the skin, to reduce wrinkles in 14 days and to make the skin appear firmer in 28 days.

I’ve been using this product on and off only for about 2 months. On and off because I only use it when I leave the house – which is 3 times per week tops. I can’t really say whether this product has any dramatic effect on my skin, but I love its subtle and fresh scent, I love the non-greasy formula, I love that it delivers the perfect level of hydration, and I love that it plays well with my foundation. I love everything about this face cream! I enjoy using it, and I know I will buy it again!

I bought this face cream for about £5 at either B&M Bargains or Home Bargains. The box looks beaten up – but who cares?! Olay has refreshed the packaging of this product – but the formula appears to be the same. Olay Anti-Wrinkle Firm & Lift Day Cream With SPF 15 is available as 50ml for £14, although Boots has it for half price with Boots Advantage Card right now.

Boots Glow Pineapple Gel Moisturiser

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Boots Glow Pineapple Gel Moisturiser which promises to nourish the skin and to prep the skin for the day ahead (that’s what it says on the tub). Accodring to Boots, this moisturiser is suitable for day and night time use.

I’ve been using this moisturiser on most days for well over a month now (maybe even two months), and I think it’s actually alright. I think the scent could be nicer – it’s an old-fashioned fruity mes. It’s not “off”, and it’s not even bad, but it reminds me of fruity teenage “fragrances” from the 90s. I know because those were my teenage years too! Read on…

This moisturiser is hydrating my skin nicely. I’m actually surprised because I find that gel moisturisers are often more suitable for oilier skin types. But I haven’t had a single dry patch since I’ve been using this moisturiser, and my skin feels nice and comfy. I have no reason to complain actually.

However, I don’t love the glibbery formula and the fragrance is starting to get old. I’m now 80% through the tub, and whilst this moisturiser is actually decent, I know I won’t buy it again.

If you’re interested, Boots Glow Pineapple Gel Moisturiser is available as 50ml for £4. I bought 3 items from this range on a 3 for 2 special offer.

Empties – October 2022

Hi there! I hope you had a good start into November! Today’s post is my Empties post. Unfortunately, October wasn’t the best month, but hey ho…

1 Antonio Banderas Her Secret Temptation Eau De Toilette – a lovely fragrance. I’d consider buying it again!

2 Yves Rocher Retropical Eau De Toilette – one of the most special fragrances ever. I’m sad it was a limited edition, and that I can’t buy it again.

3 Superdrug Layering Lab Sweetie Body Mist – this one got old about halfway through the bottle. I managed to use it up now. It’s a nice fragrance, but I’m tired of it right now.

4 Imperial Leather Monkey Business Guava Blossom & Jungle Leaves Icons Shower Gel – a lovely shower gel! I would buy it again!

5 uperdrug Revive Hair Care Collagen Conditioner – I enjoyed this conditioner (and the matching shampoo) quite a bit. I’ll buy them again.

6 Cussons Creations Comfort Bottled Magnolia & Almond Milk Shower Gel – this shower gel grew on me. I can see myself picking it up again.

7 Original Source Skin Quench Cherry & Jojoba Oil Moisturising Shower – this is an old favourite. It’s been discontinued, and this was my last bottle.

8 Kirstie Allsopp Lansdowne Rose Hand Lotion – it took me ages to finish this hand cream. I used it as a foot cream as my husband didn’t like the strong rose fragrance.

9 Original Source Pink Grapefruit Shower – another old favourite. But I do have a few more bottles in my stash.

I also used a bunch of single use face masks – but nothing worth keeping as empty face mask sachets are rather icky and sticky. Hopefully November will be a better month for Empties! And thanks for stopping by today. xx
