Card Making / Embellishing Cards For Beginners

Hi there! For the past 3+ years I’ve reviewed toiletries, make-up and skin care products, and I’ve shown you countless manicures I’ve done. However, most of you don’t really know anything about me. To be fair, I won’t give up my (relative) anonymity, so I won’t post any pictures of my face, but I’d like to share a few bits and bobs with you. 🙂

Alrighty… one of my relatives has been into card making for quite some time. She makes cards from scratch, but she also embellishes store-bought cards using buttons, cabochons, acrylic gems and, of course, stickers. So for a few years now, I’ve received many beautiful cards for all kinds of occasions (birthdays, Christmas, Easter, invitations, etc.).

A few months ago I thought that I could try to make more of an effort with cards. I wasn’t really sure where to start, but I bought mixed gems, mixed buttons and colourful pearls (flat back ones). In addition, Paperchase had a big sale going on, so I bought a number of cards and writing sets. Amongst many other items, I picked up these 2 cute cards for 40p each.

I really liked the “Hello Lovely” card. I knew right away that I would use some of the colourful gems to make the flowers pop. And the “Floral Cat” card caught my eye because of its beauty. I also noticed right away that the cat would look more glamorous with a sparkly bow tie (which I also happened to have). And here’s what the embellished cards looked like!

I was really happy with my first attempt at embellishing cards! And the recipients of these cards were happy as well. 🙂

However, I didn’t just buy 2 cards. Amongst a number of different items, I also picked up a set of unusual looking craft note cards (6 different designs, 2 each). These were 70% off! 😉 My husband doesn’t like these cards at all. And whilst I understand why he feels this way, I don’t agree with him at all. I think these cards are pretty awesome. They’re unusual, and they’re perfect for craft projects!

Whilst I’m still not sure what I’m going to do with the “Shattered” cards, I instantly knew that I’d use a few colourful gems to beautify the “Blobs” cards. I glued pink gems onto the first card and purple gems onto the second card. I still have the card with the pink gems, but I already gave the one with the purple gems away. The recipient liked it very much!

I’ve only been embellishing cards for a few weeks now, but I’m already hooked. I don’t think I’ll ever make cards from scratch, but embellishing store-bought cards is awesome fun. In addition, it’s super easy to do. If I can do it, so can you!

Are you into craft or card making? Do you have any (new) hobbies you’d like to share? Feel free to get in touch via the comments. And thanks for stopping by!

Ekél Natural Clean Peeling Gel Apple

Hi there! Today’s post is about Ekél‘s Natural Clean Peeling Gel with Apple. This product promises gentle exfoliation. You’re supposed to massage a small amount of product all over your cleansed and dry face. Then rinse, and that’s it!

I’ve previously reviewed Ekel’s Grape Peel, so I’m not just reviewing this product. I’m comparing it with its sister product as well. 🙂

First of all, a few months ago I started to use the Grape Peel as a make-up remover. I’ve been using it once or twice a week to take my make-up off right before my evening shower. And it works perfectly! I’m now alternating between the Grape Peel and the Apple Peel, and here’s what I think…

Ekél’s Apple Gel is pretty much as effective as the Grape Peel. Whilst I rub it all over my face, it balls up, thus removing make-up, dead skin cells and all sorts of gunk that clogs up pores. However, the Apple Peel doesn’t smell as yummy as the grape peel, and I’ve also noticed that the Apple Peel is a bit thinner which means it takes a bit longer for the product to be effective (=ball up).

All in all, this is a very good product, and I would recommend it to everyone. And if you love the scent of fresh apples in cosmetics, I have no doubt that you’ll love this product! 🙂

Ekél‘s Natural Clean Peeling Gel with Apple is available as 180ml. I spent £4.99 (TK Maxx).

NSPA Sharp And Uplifting Lemon Bath & Shower Gel

Hi there! Today’s post is about NSPA‘s Sharp And Uplifting Lemon Shower & Bath Gel.

I had this shower gel stashed away for quite some time, and I almost forgot about it. But about 2 weeks ago I did an inventory of one of the boxes under the bed (don’t ask…), and this shower gel was one of a few summery shower products that I moved to the bathroom. 🙂

Now… is this shower gel any good? Yes, it is. The lemon fragrance is tangy and refreshing. It smells just as awesome as Original Source’s lemon shower gel. I also love the sherbet-like texture which adds to the cool feel of the shower gel.

I know NSPA‘s Sharp And Uplifting Lemon Shower & Bath Gel will serve me well this summer. If you’d like to try this shower gel, it’s available as 500ml for £3. I bought it when Asda ran a 3 for £4 promotion.

Have you tried this product? Have you tried any of the other NSPA shower gels? If so, which ones are your favourites? Feel free to get in touch via the comments. And thanks for reading!

Nail Of The Day – Rimmel 60 Seconds 323 Don’t Be Shy & Stamping With Pueen 111

Hi there! Today’s post is about a mani I did a few weeks ago. 🙂

For this mani I painted my nails with Rimmel 60 Seconds 323 Don’t Be Shy (2 coats). I really like this polish. Great formula, great colour. Great stuff!

Then I decided to double-stamp. I used Revlon Colorstay 270 Stiletto (black) and Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure 819 Coat Of Arms (gold).

The stamping plate I used is Pueen‘s 106 plate (which is part of Pueen‘s fantastic Make Your Day stamping plate collection).

I really like this mani. The base colour looks great, the images are super cute, and the gold and black stamping effect looks very nice.

Have you tried double-stamping? If not, why not? 😉 What nail polish are you wearing at the moment? Feel free to comment. And thanks for reading!

Aussie Colour Mate Shampoo & Conditioner

Hi there! Today’s post is about Aussie’s Colour Mate Shampoo & Conditioner with wild peach extract. These two hair products for “vibrant, coloured hair that refuses to be dull” promise a gentle cleanse to make sure colour is retained and hair is extra shiny.

I think the shampoo is decent. I’m satisfied it cleanses my hair and my scalp well. It doesn’t feel drying and the fragrance is alright (nice enough, generic, forgettable). In summary, this is an average shampoo.

The conditioner is below average. It helps detangle my hair in the shower, but it doesn’t make my hair feel soft or silky. I’ve never had dry hair, but thanks to this conditioner I think I’m halfway there!

In addition to the dryness, I’ve also noticed that my hair hasn’t been as glossy as usual. So based on my experience I’d say that these 2 products don’t deliver on their promise at all, and I won’t be buying them again. If you think these products are good, I recommend you try other products. Cheap brands like Alberto Balsam do much better products!

Aussie Colour Mate Shampoo (300ml) & Conditioner (250ml) are available for £4.19 each. I paid £1.95 each (special offer).

Nature Love Hyaluronic Face Mask

Hi there! Today I’m reviewing Nature Love‘s Hyaluronic Face Mask. This sheet mask contains hyaluronic acid, cucumber and honeysuckle extracts, and it promises to soothe and hydrate skin.

This sheet mask is easy to use – cleanse your face, apply the mask, leave it alone for 20 minutes, then massage the excess serum into your skin. Now, read on to find out if the mask is any good…

I can make a long story short – this mask is absolutely amazing. I never had a sheet mask that left my skin anywhere near as hydrated as this mask. So yes, this mask set new standards! But it isn’t that much of a surprise. Looking at the ingredients, I can see that sodium hyaluronate is listed as the 3rd ingredient. This explains why the mask is so incredibly hydrating!

I would recommend this sheet mask to everyone! Nature Love‘s Hyaluronic Face Mask is available as a pack of 5 masks. I paid £4.99 (TK Maxx).
