Empties – March 2020

Hi there! Today’s post is my monthly Empties post. Read on if you’d like to know which products I said goodbye to in March 2020.

1 Imperial Leather Indulgence Rich Moisturising Body Wash Precious – I love this shower gel! It’s been discontinued, but I might have another bottle in my stash. Fingers crossed!

2 Café De Bain Raspberry & Rose Crème Tarte Softening Shower Crème – if you like sweet, foody shower gels, this one might be for you. I found this one hard to finish.

3 Calcot Manor The Perfect Day Shower & Bath Gel – I didn’t love this shower gel, and I won’t buy it again.

4 Boots No7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum (travel size, x2) – I found these (and 2 full sizes) when we got ready for the house move. These smelled and looked perfectly fine, so I was happy to use them. I love this stuff! Boots improved this serum a few times already, and I’ll buy the current version again, no doubt! But I’m now going to focus on the 2 full size serums I have left in my stash.

5 Boots Extracts Sweet Mango Body Butter (travel size) – I love Boots Extracts. I’m sad the collection was discontinued. But I’ve got a few more mango-scented products from this collection in my stash.

6 Nivea Soft Refreshingly Soft Moisturising Cream – I love this stuff! I’ll buy it again soon!

7 Superdrug Sweet Snuggles Vanilla Body Butter (travel size) – a lovely, rich vanilla body butter. It was a limited edition. Unfortunately, I can’t buy it again.

8 NSPA Fruit Extracts Pink Grapefruit Raspberry Face Wash – a decent face wash. I wouldn’t buy it again though as there are better products out there.

9 L’Oréal Elvive Full Restore 5 Repairing Conditioner – this is a good conditioner, but I don’t think I’l buy it again. L’Oréal has nicer hair products!

10 Cuticura Skin Balance Protective Hand & Nail Cream -my husband and I used this hand cream as a foot cream because we didn’t like its strange fragrance. It served our feet well, but I wouldn’t buy this product again.

11 Maybelline Dr. Rescue Base Coat – this is a decent base coat. If I can still find it at Poundland, I’ll buy it again.

12 L’Oréal Color Riche – J Lo’s Delicate Rose – the last few drops at the bottom of the bottle are too goopy to be used. I’m not going to buy this nail polish again as I have plenty of reds in my stash.

13 Lisseau Vanilla Body Butter – this is a nice body butter. I might buy it again.

I’ve also used a number of single-use face masks – if you’d like to look at my latest face mask finds, click here. 🙂

I finished quite a bit of skin care, and I’m really proud of myself for getting through a few travel-sized products too. Have you tried any of these products? Would you like to try them? Which products have you said goodbye to recently? Feel free to get in touch via the comments. And thanks for reading! 🙂

Old vs New – Cuticura Skin Balance Protective Hand & Nail Cream, Cuticura Intensive Hand & Nail Cream

Hi there! I haven’t done a product comparison in a while. When I found these 2 Cuticura hand creams when I packed up my beauty stuff for the house move, I thought they’d be perfect! I gave these 2 products a try, and here’s what I think.

Cuticura Skin Balance Protective Hand & Nail Cream is aimed at people with dry hands. It claims to soften and hydrate skin and to strengthen nails. It claims to have anti-aging powers, and it also says that it evens out skin tone. A look at the back to tube shows that the product contains niacinamide (WOW!), sweet almond oil and vitamins B3 and E.

You’d think this is an amazing hand cream. However. it’s just about alright. I know I bought this hand cream at Poundland, so I also know it was £1. I’d say the hand cream is what you expect for the price. I also don’t like the very strong soapy fragrance. Because of this, my husband and I are now using this hand cream as a foot cream.

Cuticura Intensive Hand & Nail Cream promises to nourish skin and to provide instant relief for rough, chapped hands. The product contains vitamins B3 and E, but it no longer has sweet almond oil or niacinamide.

I’ve tried this hand cream, and I think it’s good but not great. It’s runnier than the old version, so it feels lighter. And I like that it’s fragrance-free. I’ve had more nourishing hand creams, but I use this hand cream right before I go to bed, and I’m happy with it.

In summary, the new version is the clear winner of this comparison. I will pick it up again for £1.
