Garnier Organic Thyme Purifying Perfecting Toner

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Garnier Organic Thyme Purifying Perfecting Toner for combination to oily skin which I started to use a few weeks ago.

This toner is recommended for daily use. It promises to purify and to mattify the skin, to make pores appear tightened, and to make the skin texture appear more refined. OK then!

When I started to use this toner, I found it rather harsh. It’s definitely not the type of toner that you want to use around your eyes to remove the last few traces of make-up that your cleanser and cloth didn’t catch.

Fortunately, I didn’t use it around my eyes. The strong scent and the borderline scary feel of the toner on my forehead were enough of a warning.

What does the toner do? Good question. I have very dry and moody skin, and the only thing I’ve noticed is that this toner makes my skin feel very dry for a few minutes – and then my skin starts to produce more oil than ever.

I can’t speak for people with oily skin types, but I would find that counterproductive.

Well, I will use up this toner but I won’t buy it again.

First of all, it has a strong chemical smell. It says the fragrance is 100% natural –  which is a good thing, I guess. But it doesn’t smell good. And it’s not a subtle fragrance either. It’s also not the most suitable product for my skin type. Granted, I’m not the customer this product is aimed at, but it shouldn’t feel so wrong to use it. I would definitely recommend a patch test* if you have sensitive skin. Whilst I haven’t had any bad reaction to this toner, I can see the possibility that it might be a bit too strong for some people with sensitive skin.

If you’re interested, Garnier Organic Thyme Purifying Perfecting Toner is available as 150ml for £5.99. I paid £3.99 (Save 1/3 at Boots).

*You should always to a patch test for any new product you use. Always check the ingredients to make sure a product is safe for you. If it is (based on the ingredients), then do a patch test.

Garnier Organic Lemongrass Fresh Detox Gel Wash

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Garnier Organic Lemongrass Fresh Detox Gel Wash with organic lemongrass essential oil, organic cornflower water, botanical glycerin and with a fragrance of natural origin.

I’ve been using this face wash for a few weeks now, and I like it – but I don’t love it. The fragrance may be natural, but it’s not the most pleasant fragrance. It’s kind of harsh.

I’ve noticed that this face wash gives my skin a bit of redness if I use it twice a day. But there are no issues at all if I stick to using this face wash in the morning only.

I would say that the face wash cleanses my face reasonably well. It’s not the best face wash ever, but much better than Nivea’s blue face wash and other such random products.

I will continue to use this face wash. I might buy it again – but I’m not sure at this point. But I’ll know by the time this bottle is empty.

What else is good? According to Garnier, the bottle is made from 100% recycled plastic, and the formula of the face wash is vegan and organic!

If you’re interested, Garnier Organic Lemongrass Fresh Detox Gel Wash is available as 150ml for £5.99. I paid £3.99 (save 1/3 offer).

Empties – August 2022

Hi there! Today’s post is about all the products I finished last month. I don’t feel like doing a big intro, so here they are:

1 Salvador Dali Dalissime Eau De Toilette – one of my all-time favourite fragrances. I have another bottle in my stash. 😍

2 Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub – another Garnier product I won’t repurchase. This scrub is too basic.

3 Boots Glow Banana Toner – not the best toner for me. I won’t buy it again.

4 The Body Shop Neroli Jasmin Body Lotion – one of the best body lotions ever. EVER. Unfortunately, this amazing fragrance has been discontinued. But I have 1 more body lotion, 2 shower gels and 1 eau de toilette with the beautiful Neroli Jasmin fragrance left in my stash! 😍

5 Garnier Skin Active Soothing Botanical Cleansing Milk With Rose Water – this cleanser is OK but not great. I wouldn’t buy it again.

6 Olay Complete Lightweight Day Fluid – an all-time favourite beauty staple. I would always be more than happy to buy this amazing moisturiser again.

7 Palmolive Aroma Therapy Absolute Relax – one of my all-time favourites! I have a few more of these!

8 Imperial Leather You Are My Sunshine Rainbow Rose & Raspberry Kisses Icons Shower Gel – a nice shower gel. A limited edition, unfortunately.

9 Treacle Moon The Honeycomb Secret Bath And Shower Gel – my husband loves this shower and bath gel just as much as I do. In fact, he’s been using most of it. A definite repurchase.

9 Palmolive Hidden Heaven Shower Gel – I love this shower gel! A definite repurchase!

10 Pantene Pro-V Miracles Silky & Glowing Biotin & Hydrolised Silk Protein Conditioner – not the best conditioner for my hair type. This shampoo and conditioner combo gave me crunchy hair. Its tagline could be “A crunch fest with every wash.” Repurchase? Absolutely not!

12 Morrisons Revive Pink Grapefruit & Basil Extracts Shower Gel – this shower gel is too basic. I won’t buy it again.

I did well again in August. Hopefully I can keep it up over the next few months!

Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub with salicylic acid.

This scrub is aimed at people with oily to spot-prone skin. It promises to cleanse the skin, to eliminate impurities and excess sebum, and to help fight spots and marks.

On the back of the tube it says that the scrub is not recommended for people with sensitive or dry skin.

On paper, the scrub is not suitable for me, but I rarely have trouble with supposedly harsher products; instead it’s usually products for sensitive skin that give me a rash or cause my eyes to swell up.

On another note, this scrub is meant for daily use, so how “bad” can it be?

I’ve used this scrub for a few times now, and I think its cleansing and exfoliating powers are average. I would say this product exfoliates skin gently. Based on its name and what it says on the back of the tube, I would have expected a more powerful scrub. Ah well… On a more positive note, this scrub hasn’t caused my skin any trouble, so it’s definitely suitable for me.

I will continue to use this scrub, but I wouldn’t buy it again. Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub is available as 150ml. I think I paid £3.

Garnier Body Tonic Firming Hydrating Lotion

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Garnier Body Tonic Firming Hydrating Lotion for normal skin.

This body lotion contains phyto-caffeine and seaweed extract, and it promises skin that feels toned immediately, skin that looks smoother after 7 days, and skin that feels tighter after 4 weeks.

I’ve been using this body lotion for a few weeks now, and I like it a lot. I had it before, but that must have been 10 years ago.

Anyhoo, I like this body lotion because of it’s gel formula. It’s not sticky, and it’s absorbed quickly. Perfect for the warmest months of the year. In addition, the refreshing lemon fragrance is nice and pleasant.

I can’t comment on whether this body lotion does anything to improve my skin. But I would repurchase it for the fragrance and the formula alone!

Garnier Body Tonic Firming Hydrating Lotion is available as 400ml. Prices depend on where you shop – it’s £4.99 at Tesco, but I’ve also seen it for up to £6.99 elsewhere. I made use of a half price offer at Tesco!

Garnier Intensive 7 Days Nourishing Lotion with Mango Oil

Garnier Mango LotionHi there! Today’s post is about this Garnier Body Intensive 7 Days Nourishing Lotion With Mango Oil.

This body lotion is aimed at people with dry skin, and it also contains L-Bifidus and zinc which are beneficial to the skin.

According to Garnier, this is a fast-absorbing body lotion. And even if you were to stop using it, your skin would still feel hydrated for up to 7 days (provided you’ve used it for at least 4 weeks prior).

I’ve been using this body lotion on and off since November, and I think it’s good but not great.

It feels good on the skin, no doubt. And I also find it reasonably hydrating, but I think this body lotion is more for people with normal skin than dry skin, and there are better body lotions for people with dry skin. The mango fragrance is nice enough, but nothing special.

I agree that this body lotion is fast-absorbing, and because of this I use it when I’m in a hurry in the morning. All in all, whilst this is a good body lotion, I don’t think I’ll buy it again. It hasn’t wowed me, and I found all the other body lotions which I tried from this collection (Shea Butter, Aloe Vera, Peach, Cocoa Butter) to be more convincing.

If you’re interested, Garnier Body Intensive 7 Days Nourishing Lotion With Mango Oil is available as 250ml and 400ml. I bought the small 250ml for £1.49 at Home Bargains, and I saw the big 400ml for £2.62 (half price offer) at Boots last week.

Garnier Pure Active Anti-Blackhead Deep Pore Wash

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Garnier Pure Active Anti-Blackhead Deep Pore Wash which I’ve been using since last month.

This face wash is enriched with salicylic acid and purifying zinc, and it’s aimed at people with oily to combination skin that’s prone to blemishes, imperfections, spots or blackheads. My skin is dry and sensitive, but it’s prone to spots, so I wanted to give this product a try. And the promise of unclogged pores also lured me in…

I think this is an OK face wash. But I don’t think that it really helps with spots or imperfections. It has a mild exfoliating effect – but it’s too mild to actually do anything. So based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this product.

If you’re interested, Garnier Pure Active Anti-Blackhead Deep Pore Wash is available as 150ml for about £3.69. I bought it when it was on special (save 1/3 offer).

Garnier Skin Active Refreshing Botanical Cleansing Milk & Toner With Aloe Extract

Hi there! Today’s post is about 2 facial cleansing products I’m using at the moment – Garnier Skin Active Refreshing Botanical Cleansing Milk & Toner With Aloe Extract. These products are aimed at normal to combination skin.

Garnier Skin Active Refreshing Botanical Cleansing Milk With Aloe Extract is a disappointment. It feels nice and cleansing, and the aloe scent is alright too. However, as soon as I follow up with a toner, it’s obvious that the cleansing milk doesn’t really remove the make-up. I’ve had the same problem with another Garnier cleansing milk before. And while we’re at it, Nivea’s rose cleanser was similarly disappointing.

Garnier Skin Active Refreshing Botanical Toner With Aloe Extract is not the greatest toner either. I think this one would be good for people who don’t wear make-up and who don’t experiece impurities. I will contiue to use it in the morning after I’ve washed my face in the shower. But I can’t use it after I’ve removed my make-up in the evening, because it’s not very effective, and I don’t want to end up double-toning as this would make my skin angry.

If you’re interested, Garnier Skin Active Refreshing Botanical Cleansing Milk & Toner With Aloe Extract are available as 200ml for £3.49 each. I paid £1.74 (half price offer)

Garnier Organic Anti-Age Day Care With Soothing Lavandin

Hi there! Today’s post is about a face cream I had a sample of – Garnier Organic Anti-Age Day Care With Soothing Lavandin. This face cream also contains organic argan oil and antioxidant vitamin E, and it promises to make skin look smoother, to make skin feel firmer and to reduce the appearance of wrinkles within a few weeks.

Since I’ve only had a sample, my review is based on a single use of the product. I can’t comment on whether this product improves skin within a few weeks. Anyhoo, here’s what I think.

I think Garnier did a good job with this day cream. It feels lovely upon application, it has a subtle lavender scent, and it plays very well with my current serum and foundation. When I applied my foundation, it didn’t ball up, and I also found that my make-up stayed in place all day. I also found this day cream to be very hydrating which is always a plus!

Unfortunately, this day cream doesn’t have SPF. Because of this, I won’t buy the full size. However, I’m curious about the lavandin collection, and I’m interested in the facial oil and the night cream.

By the way, this product is vegan! If you’re interested, Garnier Organic Anti-Age Day Care With Soothing Lavandin is available as 50ml for £9.99.
