Hi there! Today’s post is about 2 small eyeshadow compacts – Revlon CustomEyes 010 Sweet Innocence and NYC Metro Quartet Eyeshadow 816A Chelsea Chic. Let’s take a look at Revlon CustomEyes 010 Sweet Innocence first!
Sweet Innocence is a cute looking little compact. The 5 shades are dark grey, peachy nude, champagne, dusty plum and vintage pink.
I’ve done a few looks with this palette, but I found the quality of the eyeshadows to be poor. They were chalky, it was impossible to build them up, and they didn’t blend.
After the disappointing experience with the Revlon eyeshadows, I tried NYC Metro Quartet Eyeshadow 816A Chelsea Chic.
This little eye palette contains 4 shades: a pale gunpowder, a medium chocolate brown, a frosty baby pink, and a light brown tinted grey.
I’ve done a few looks with this eyeshadows as well, and I think that the pale gunpowder and the brownish grey were alright. The chocolate brown shade was extremely chalky, and I didn’t care for the frosty pink.
Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend these small eye palettes (or compacts). I found them at some bargain store (Poundland?), so at least I didn’t spend much money on them.

Reducing My Oldies Stash – Astor Pure Colour Eyeshadow 530 Sweet Daisy, Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow 03 Frosted Apple & 05 Chocolate Jewellery, Miss Sporty Studio Colour Smoky Eyeshadows 407 Luxury Smoky
Hi there! Today’s episode of Reducing My Oldies Stash is about a few single eyeshadows and eyeshadow compacts that I’ve had for quite some time. The 2 compacts are Astor Pure Colour Eyeshadow 530 Sweet Daisy and Miss Sporty Studio Colour Smoky Eyeshadows 407 Luxury Smoky.
The 2 single eyeshadows are Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow 03 Frosted Apple & 05 Chocolate Jewellery. Now let me tell you if these products are any good. And let’s start with the Astor compact!
Astor Pure Colour Eyeshadow 530 Sweet Daisy
Astor Pure Colour Eyeshadow 530 Sweet Daisy is a duo eyeshadow compact that comes with a small applicator. The eyeshadows are a bit chalky and they’re not very well pigmented. And the colours turned out much cooler in real life. In the compact the colours look like a pale beige-rose and a brownish purple, but in real life they’re more like lilac and lavender.
I’m OK with lilac and lavender eyeshadows, but I’m not OK with them being chalky and rather poorly pigmented. I will continue to use these eyeshadows, but I don’t know if I can commit to finishing this Astor eyeshadow compact.
Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow 03 Frosted Apple & 05 Chocolate Jewellery
Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow 03 Frosted Apple & 05 Chocolate Jewellery are limited edition eyeshadows. I’m not sure if you would still be able to get your hands on them, but I’m sure that, at some point, Essence will ‘recycle’ these two shades – well, that’s if they haven’t already. 🙂
Frosted Apple is a rosey shade, and Chocolate Jewellery is a medium brown. Both eyeshadows have a metallic finish. I think these eyeshadows are really nice. The shades aren’t too out there – they’re actually fairly neutral, and the velvety texture makes these eyeshadows easy to blend. I enjoy using these eyeshadows, so, of course, I will continue to use them! 🙂
Miss Sporty Studio Colour Smoky Eyeshadows 407 Luxury Smoky
Miss Sporty Studio Colour Smoky Eyeshadows 407 Luxury Smoky is a small eyeshadow compact that comes with a tiny applicator. This compact is really small – it’s about 2cm x 2cm. Anyhoo… this compact contains four eyeshadows – a barely-there pale beige, a golden yellow, a medium grey and an almost black / charcoal shade.
The almost black / charcoal eyeshadow is the only well pigmented one. The other 3 eyeshadows aren’t great. They’re lacklustre. They lack… life! I can make these 4 eyeshadows work for me, but I don’t really enjoy using them. I will continue to use them, and I will try to finish them. Well, this compact is really small, so I think finishing it isn’t impossible. 🙂
Have you tried any of these eyeshadows or eyeshadow compacts? If so, feel free to let me know what you think. And thanks for stopping by!
Naked 2 Dupe – MakeUp Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 2
Hi there! Last month I reviewed MakeUp Revolution’s Iconic 1 palette. And now I’ve finally gotten around to swatch MakeUp Revolution Iconic 2 palette. I’m sure everyone knows MUR’s Iconic 2 is a dupe for Urban Decay’s Naked 2 palette, so I’m not going to waffle about the dupe factor. 😉 Instead, let’s get to the actual Iconic 2 palette.
The first shade is a pale beige with a matte finish. Shade 2 is a metallic gold. Shade 3 is a pearly pale beige. Shade 4 is a metallic copper. Shade 5 is a matte medium brown. And shade 6 is a shimmery golden brown. In terms of pigmentation the matte shades (1 and 5) aren’t great, but they’re OK. The other shades (2, 3, 4, 6) are nicely pigmented.
Shade 7 is a shimmery taupe, and shade 8 is a shimmery medium grey. Shade 9 is a shimmery light grey, and shade 10 is a pale rosey copper. Shade 11 is a purplish-tinted dark brown with a satin finish. And shade 12 is a matte black. Shades 7, 8, 9 and 10 are highly pigmented, shade 11 and 12 are so-so, but I can make them work if I carefully dab them on with a fluffy eyeshadow brush.
My favourite shades are 2, 4, 6 and 10 – the warm shimmers. But I like and use all the other shades too. I think the Iconic 2 is a good eye palette at a great price. The MakeUp Revolution Iconic 2 palette sets you back £4 only (Superdrug, MUR web site).
Naked 1 Dupe – MakeUp Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 1
Hi there! Today’s post is about my MakeUp Revolution Iconic 1 eye palette. It’s been sitting in my drawer for ages. But I’ve finally gotten around to use it. You may know that I’ve got lots of eyeshadows and palettes and I’m trying hard to empty products before I start to use new ones. But that doesn’t always work. And I’ve accepted that. 🙂
Now let’s have a look at the Iconic 1 palette. This is a beautiful nude/neutral palette. It contains 12 yeshadows – 10 shimmers and 2 mattes. It’s a great dupe for Urban Decay’s Naked Palette. But this isn’t news. I think everyone who knows MakeUp Revolution knows that many of their products are dupes for high end beauty products.
Let’s take a closer look at the eyeshadows. Shade 1 is a pale nude shimmery highlighter shade. Shade 2 is similar, but it’s more pinkish. Shade 3 is a pale beige / light brown. Shade 4 is a pale pinkish bronze. Shade 5 is a matte light brown. And shade 6 is a beautiful gold. All the shimmers (1, 2,4,6) are highly pigmented. The mattes (3,5) are ok – they’re not great, but they’re not bad either.
Shade 7 is a deep golden brown. Shade 8 is a warm brown. I love the intensity of shade 9 which is a beautiful vintage rose colour. Shade 10 is another brown. It’s lighter and (in my opinion) a bit ‘toastier’ than shade 8. Shade 11 is a shimmery dark grey. And shade 12 is a beautiful steel blue.
My favourite shades are 6, 7 and 9 – the two goldie ones and the vintage rose. But all the other shades are beautiful too. I think the Iconic 1 is a very pretty nude eye palette. And the quality is great. The eyeshadows last long and most of them are highly pigmented. The Iconic 1 palette is £4 only – a total steal!
W7 10 Out Of 10 Browns Eyeshadow Palette
Hi there! Today’s post is about the W7 10 out of 10 palette. It’s another nude/brown palette but isn’t it pretty? I bought it at least half a year ago but didn’t use it until now because had my Sleek Au Naturel palette to play with. 🙂 Anyway, now on to the review.
This palette contains 10 eyeshadows – 3 mattes and 7 shimmers. Shades 1, 2 and 5 are matte, the other shades are shimmers. Shades 4 and 10 are borderline glittery (unfortunately the glitter is invisible in the swatch).
The matte shades could be more pigmented – they’re not bad, but I’ve had better matte eyeshadows. The shimmery ones are buttery and soft – great quality!
I would recommend this palette to everyone who loves a cheap nude palette. I bought my W7 10 out of 10 palette for under £4 which is good value. W7 cosmetics are available at Savers drugstores, some Peacock’s stores, independent drugstores and – of course – online.
I Heart MakeUp I Heart Passion Eyeshadow Palette
Hi there! Like a few other ladies I too went nuts during my latest MakeUp Revolution online shopping spree. One of the palettes I bought is I Heart MakeUp’s I Heart Passion Eyeshadow Palette. (Scroll down for swatches.)
This eye palette contains 16 shades – 10 shimmers and 6 mattes. Whilst there are five rather striking shimmers (two purples, a green, a blue and a black/silver shade), everything else could easily be part of a nude palette. This means there’s something for everyone in this quite versatile eyeshadow collection!
I’m very pleased with the selection of shades and with the quality of the eyeshadows. They’re buttery and soft and easy to blend. My favourite shades are the mattes – all of them. They were selected very well and they compliment the shimmers nicely.
