Empties – July 2022

Hi there! Today’s post is my July Empties post – so it’s about all the products I used up last month. Let’s take a closer look at them!

1 Prada Infusion D’Iris Hydrating Body Lotion – this is an alright body lotion for spring and summer. Basic hydration but a long-lasting and powerful fragrance. I wouldn’t pay full price for this body lotion, but I wouldn’t mind picking it up as part of another reduced price fragrance gift set! 😋

2 A’kin Brightening Vitamin C & Niacinamide Correcting Eye Gel – a basic eye cream. I wouldn’t buy it again.

3 Giorgio Armani Armani Code Summer Eau Fraîche – an elegant and pretty summer fragrance. I’d repurchase it.

4 Olay Anti-Wrinkle 2 In 1 Firm & Lift Anti-Wrinkle Booster + Firming Serum – a very nice serum! I’d be more than happy to buy it again!

5 Max Factor Pan Stik 12 True Beige – my holy grail foundation! 🥰

6 Boots Botanics Refreshing Toning Spritz – not my favourite face mist. I won’t buy it again.

7 Aussie Mega Conditioner – this conditioner is one half of one of my all-time favourite hair care combos. A definite repurchase (along with the shampoo).

8 Cussons Creations Peace Bottled Apple & Elderflower Shower Gel – a decent shower gel. Definitely refreshing. It was nice enough while it lasted, but it wasn’t a favourite, so I won’t buy it again. My husband used this shower gel too – quite a few times actually – so he helped me use it up!

9 Nivea Refreshing Face Wash – a basic face wash. I won’t buy it again.

10 Imperial Leather Awakening Mango & Papaya Infusions Shower Cream – a lovely shower gel! Unfortunately, this one has been discontinued, so I can’t buy it again.

11 Boots Extracts Sweet Mango Body Wash – another discontinued beauty. I have a few more products from this range in my stash.

I also used a few single use face masks. You can read about my latest face mask finds if you click here. All in all, not a bad month for empties. I love to finish skin care, but I also love to finish big shower gel bottles and tubes. So based on that, I’ve done pretty well!

Nivea Caring Shower Gel Splashy Ocean

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Nivea Caring Shower Gel Splashy Ocean. This shower gel promises instantly refreshed skin. This sounds good!

I’ve been using this shower gel on and off for the past 2 weeks, and I like it. It’s cleansing, but it also feels gentle – this is nice!

I do like the fragrance – it’s a mix of marine notes and grapefruit. Definitely refreshing and also unisex. My husband has given this shower gel a try, and he likes it too. He actually thought it’s “for men”.

If you’re looking for a refreshing unisex shower gel, I’d recommend this one. Nivea Caring Shower Gel Splashy Ocean is available as 250ml for about £2. I paid £1 (Poundland).

Nivea Refreshing Face Wash

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Nivea Refreshing Face Wash.

I know this face wash has been around forever, but I’ve never used it before.

About 2 months ago, I went to my local Boots as I really needed a new face wash. My local Boots only had a small selection of facial cleansers, and this Nivea face wash was on special = easy choice.

Alrighty, this face wash contains vitamin E and Nivea’s patented Hydra IQ, and it aims to cleanse and to rehydrate the skin by supporting the skin’s moisture balance and by reducing water loss.

I’ve used this face wash for about 6 weeks now, and I think it’s OK. The face wash is refreshing, but I find it drying, and it’s not as cleansing as I had hoped.

I also don’t love the rather strong scent. Whilst I generally love scented products, and whilst I would always choose a scented product over an unscented one, this face wash smells much stronger than my shower gels or hair products. It shouldn’t be like this!

I will use up this face wash (and use more facial oil in my skin care to combat the dryness this face wash is causing). But I won’t repurchase it. If you’re interested, Nivea Refreshing Face Wash is available as 150ml for about £4. I paid £2.10.

Small Haul! Boots, Wright’s, Little Soap Company, M&S, Botanical Lab & Nivea

Hi there! Today’s post is about a bunch of products I bought recently. It’s not that many. And here they are:

Boots Glow Banana Toner, 100ml for £5 (plus “points received” for buying this products – I would have bought it anyway, so the points worth £1 were welcome).
Boots Rose Toner, 150ml for £1.75. This rose toner will replace my used-up Garnier rose toner.
Wright’s Traditional Soap With Coal Tar Fragrance, 85p. Finally!
Little Soap Company Sweet Orange Soap, £1.85. I liked the look of this soap!

Boots Botanics Revive & Protect Postbiotic Facial Mist (100ml) and Boots Botanics Refreshing Toning Spritz (150ml) – these were £11.98 together (Buy 1 Get 2nd Half Price deal, usually £7.99 each).
Nivea Refreshing Face Wash
, 150ml for £2.10. This face wash has been around forever, but this is the first time I bought it!

Botanical Lab Neem Leaf + Salicylic Acid Gentle Face Wash, 150ml for £2.
Botanical Lab Pumpkin & Papaya Enzymes + AHA Daily Tonic, 200ml for £3. Both of these products were half price with Tesco Clubcard!

M&S The Fragrance Collection Vanilla & Woods Eau De Toilette, 2 x 100ml for £10 each.
M&S Spiced Bergamot Eau De Toilette, 200ml for £6.25 (half price post-Christmas clearance sale).

M&S Alphabet Personalised Gift Set, £6.25 (half price post-Christmas clearance sale).

They had all sorts of different letters in the sale. I picked a random one. The contents of the set would always be the same.

And this is everything. A bunch of cheap and cheerful items that I look forward to giving a try!

Nivea Indulgent Moisture Cashmere Shower Cream With Cashmere Extract And Orchid Scent, Nivea Love Adventure Caring Shower Gel With Aloe Vera

Hi there! Today’s post is about 2 Nivea shower gels which I picked up before the November lockdown – Nivea Indulgent Moisture Cashmere Shower Cream With Cashmere Extract And Orchid Scent and Nivea Love Adventure Caring Shower Gel With Aloe Vera.

Nivea Indulgent Moisture Cashmere Shower Cream With Cashmere Extract And Orchid Scent has a nice non-drying formula. But I don’t care for the fragrance. It doesn’t smell very natural. I’d describe the fragrance as a mix of flowers and plastic. I think this one might end up as a hand soap…

Nivea Love Adventure Caring Shower Gel With Aloe Vera is refreshing, no doubt. I do like the fragrance, although I think it’s rather masculine. My husband is enjoying this shower gel too. I think he’ll probably use it more often than I will.

If you’re interested, Nivea Indulgent Moisture Cashmere Shower Cream With Cashmere Extract And Orchid Scent and Nivea Love Adventure Caring Shower Gel With Aloe Vera are available as 250ml each. I paid £1 each.

Nivea Love Fun Times Pink Grapefruit Caring Shower Gel, Nivea Love Splash Aquatic Caring Shower Gel

Hi there! Today’s post is about 2 shower gels I picked up from Poundland – Nivea Love Fun Times Pink Grapefruit Caring Shower Gel and Nivea Love Splash Aquatic Caring Shower Gel. I’ve given them a try, and here’s what I think.

I love all things grapefruit, so I was looking forward to try Nivea Love Fun Times Pink Grapefruit Caring Shower Gel. However, this shower gel has a random pink scent (more floral than citrusy), so it was not what I wanted, and I wouldn’t buy it again. On a positive note, the shower gel felt good on my skin.

Onto Nivea Love Splash Aquatic Caring Shower Gel! This shower gel is too masculine for me. It has a strong and manly marine fragrance (although this one has a touch of citrus – my guess is bergamot). My husband enjoys this shower gel, and I’m happy for him to finish it.

Nivea Love Fun Times Pink Grapefruit Caring Shower Gel and Nivea Love Splash Aquatic Caring Shower Gel are avaiable as 250ml each. I paid £1 each (Poundland).

Nivea Clay Fresh Deep Cleansing Shower Ginger & Basil Scent, Nivea Clay Fresh Deep Cleansing Shower Hibiscus & White Sage Scent

Hi there! Today’s post is about 2 shower gels which I started to use in April – Nivea Clay Fresh Deep Cleansing Shower with Ginger & Basil Scent and Nivea Clay Fresh Deep Cleansing Shower with Hibiscus & White Sage Scent. Here’s what I think about these 2 shower gels…

Nivea Clay Fresh Deep Cleansing Shower with Ginger & Basil Scent is really nice. It smells green and fresh – it’s pretty much what I thought it would be like. The formula is lovely too. It makes my skin feel squeaky clean, but at the same time it’s not drying. I like it!

Nivea Clay Fresh Deep Cleansing Shower with Hibiscus & White Sage Scent smells like a sauna! The fragrance is a great match for the clay-theme. I’m happy with this shower gel too!

Nivea Clay Fresh Deep Cleansing Shower with Ginger & Basil Scent and Nivea Clay Fresh Deep Cleansing Shower with Hibiscus & White Sage Scent are available as 250ml for about £2.40 each. I paid 99p each at Savers!

100% Awesome – Nivea Soft Refreshingly Soft Moisturising Cream

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Nivea Soft Refreshingly Soft Moisturising Cream. I received this cream as part of a gift set a little while ago. What is it? Well, this cream can be used on the face and on the body. It promises intense hydration for soft skin. Sounds great!

I’ve given this cream a try, and I’m blown away! Within a couple of days, this cream has become one of my all-time favourite body moisturisers. It feels amazing on my skin, it’s absorbed quickly, it’s very hydrating, but it doesn’t feel like “product”. This is a truly amazing product, and I can’t praise it enough!

Nivea Soft Refreshingly Soft Moisturising Cream is available as 200ml and 300ml. Both sizes are on special at Superdrug at the moment (£2.10 for the 200ml, £2.94 for the 300ml).
