Empties – May 2021

Hi there! Today’s post is about all the products I finished in May. I used 12 single-use face masks. Whilst I don’t take photos of those empty face mask sachets, you can read about my latest face mask finds here. Now let’s take a closer look at the big bottles!

1 Elizavecca Milky Piggy Hell-Pore Cleanup AHA Fruit Toner – I love this toner! I hope I can find it again!

2 Cellio It’s True Moisture Skin Pearl Natural Skin Care System – another lovely toner! I’d be happy to get my hands on it again!

3 Simple Purifying Cleansing Lotion – I don’t think I’ll buy this product again. There’s much better stuff out there for a similar price.

4 Herbal Essences Silk N’ Shine Conditoner – my holy grail of hair care!

5 Classics Nail Polish Remover – my go-to nail polish remover. £1 at Poundland for a 400ml bottle.

6 Treacle Moon The Raspberry Kiss – a decent shower gel, but not a favourite. I don’t think I’ll buy it again.

7 My Little Pony Lovely Lipbalm Cutie Kiss – a wonderful lip balm! I hope to find it or a similar one again!

8 NSPA Fruit Extracts Luscious And Juicy Red Cherry Rich Body Butter – this is a nice body butter. I believe this fragrance has been discontinued. Unfortunately, I can’t repurchase it.

9 Manhattan Buffalo 12 – I liked this nail polish a lot. I have 20+ similar ones though.

10 Sanctuary Spa Mestizo Acai Rain Shower – I love this! I’m sad that I can’t buy it again.

11 Nivea Love Adventure Caring Shower Gel – it was nice while it lasted, but I also won’t buy this one again.

12 Nivea Indulgent Moisture Cashmere Shower Cream – I enjoyed the moisturising formula, but not the fragrance, so I won’t buy it again.

13 Superdrug Layering Lab Blossom Shower Jelly (no photo) – OMG, I hate this shower jelly so much! I gave it a second chance, but this stuff is vile, and it’s not worth cleaning the entire shower 360 just to get rid of the green flecks it leaves everywhere. I binned it right after the 2nd try. Good riddance!

14 Superdrug Layering Lab Blossom Body Wash (no photo) – I can’t bring myself to keep using this stuff. Binned.

I think I did well again this month – 4 shower gels finished, 2 unloved shower products binned, some more skin care finished as well. I think June will be good too, as I have a bunch of products in various states of less than half full…

Thanks for reading, lovelies! x

100% Cruelty-Free – Simple Ultra Calming Sheet Mask With Hemp Seed Oil

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Simple Ultra Calming Sheet Mask With Hemp Seed Oil. This sheet mask also contains omegas 3, 6 and 9, as well as vitamin E, sodium hyaluronate and retinyl palmitate! It promises to calm skin dryness and to replenish lost nutrients. And it’s aimed at people with stressed and sensitive skin.

This is a regular sheet mask. Cleanse your face before you put the sheet mask on. Leave it on for 15 minutes, then massage the excess serum into your skin.

I’ve given this sheet mask a try, and I think it’s quite good. I found it hydrating, mildly refreshing and calming as well. The mask was on the stickier end, and I had to break up the sticky film with face mist and a light moisturiser. However, this was the only negative bit, and the mask was good otherwise.

What else? This mask is free from artificial colour or perfume, it doesn’t contain harsh chemicals, mineral oils or animal products. On the back of the pack it says the mask is vegan, and it’s certified cruelty-free by PeTA! If you’re interested, Simple Ultra Calming Sheet Mask With Hemp Seed Oil is available as a single use 21ml sheet mask for £2.99. I paid £1.49 (half price offer at Boots).

Simple Purifying Cleansing Lotion

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Simple Purifying Cleansing Lotion.

This product is free from animal-derived ingredients, artificial fragrance or colour, harsh chemicals, soap, alcohol, mineral oil, glycol. What it does contain is vitamin E and pro-vitamin B5. It also contains palm kernel oil, but according to Simple, it’s sustainably sourced.

This is a regular cleansing lotion – apply it to a cotton pad, and wipe it all over your face to dissolve and remove your make-up.

I’ve been using this product for about a month now, and I think it’s good but not great. I agree that the product itself is gentle, and I think it’s good at removing basic make-up. However, when I use more products, and not just foundation, this cleansing lotion isn’t good enough, and I end up going over my face (almost rubbing) more often and for longer.

Based on my experience, I’d recommend it if you only wear light make-up. I will continue to use it on my home-working days when I only put on foundation and lipstick or lipgloss.

If you’re interested, Simple Purifying Cleansing Lotion is available as 200ml. I paid £1.79 (B&M Bargains).

Simple Pollution Protect Sheet Mask

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Simple Pollution Protect Sheet Mask with vitamin B3, agave stem extract, niacinamide (although it’s listed very far down the list of ingredients) and sodium hyaluronate. This mask promises to combat dryness and to hydrate skin instantly.

I’ve given this mask a try, and I think it does exactly what it claims to do! The mask feels refreshing and hydrating. It’s definitely gentle, and it feels calming. I enjoyed this mask very much, and I already bought a few more!

Simple Pollution Protect Sheet Mask is available as a single use 21ml face mask. I paid £1 (Poundland).

Simple Rich Moisture Sheet Mask

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Simple Rich Moisture Sheet Mask. This sheet mask claims to be the “perfect antidote to dry city skin”. It contains a small number of botanical extracts which promise to “infuse active ingredients into the skin”.

This sheet mask is supposed to be used post-cleansing. Leave it on for 15 minutes, then massage the leftover essence into your skin…

I’ve given this mask a try, and I’m satisfied that it delivers on its promise. The essence is rich and hydrating without feeling heavy or being sticky. I’m happy with the fit of the mask too! All in all, I’d recommend this mask, and I know I’ll buy it again!

Simple Rich Moisture Sheet Mask is available as a 21ml single-use face mask. I paid £1.49 (B&M Bargains).
