Reducing My Oldies Stash – Dolly’s Mixtures Strawberry Daiquiri ‘Shake It Up’ Shower Gel

Hi there! And welcome to the latest episode of Reducing My Oldies Stash. 🙂 Today I’m reviewing Dolly’s Mixtures Strawberry Daiquiri ‘Shake It Up’ shower gel.

From the bottle this shower gel smells exactly like strawberry daiquiri. I mean it! I can smell strawberry puree, lime juice, ice and booze! Wow!

However, as soon as you lather up the shower gel, it changes from “wow” to a random (and faint) soapy fragrance. I think this is rather disappointing. And I’m saying this as someone who doesn’t even drink alcohol.

I think it’ll probably take me a while to finish this shower gel. I don’t see myself reaching for it more often than once a week…

The brand Dolly’s Mixtures is exclusive to Asda. Dolly’s Mixtures products are usually £2 each. The shower gels are 300ml, the body sprays are 100ml. I paid £1 for this shower gel (half price offer).

If you’d like to try Dolly’s Mixtures shower gels, I would recommend their fantastic Bubble Gum shower gel!

The Battle Of The 100% Cruelty-Free + Made In The UK Strawberry-Scented Body Mists – Anovia Light & Refreshing Strawberry & Kiwi vs. MPM Just Fruit Simply Strawberry

Hi there! I haven’t done any product comparisons in a long time. However, I’ve had two untried strawberry-scented body mists in my stash for ages, so I thought it’s time for The Battle Of The 100% Cuelty-Free + Made In The UK Strawberry-Scented Body Mists! Now meet Anovia’s Light & Refreshing Strawberry & Kiwi Body Mist and MPM’s Just Fruit Simply Strawberry Body Mist.

Let’s start with Anovia’s Strawberry & Kiwi Body Mist! This body mist promises light moisturisation and delicately fragranced skin. Whilst I’m not sure whether this product really moisturises my skin, I think the fragrance is actually quite nice. Thanks to the kiwi note, this body mist is considerably fresher than your average strawberry-scented body mist. Well done, Anovia! Oh, and Anovia’s products are made in the UK, and they’re cruelty-free!

Now let’s take a closer look at MDM’s Just Fruit Simply Strawberry Body Mist! This body mist promises to leave skin smelling delicately fruity – and that’s exactly what it does! I think this strawberry fragrance is also one of the most pleasant ones I’ve ever smelled. I have to admit that I don’t like strawberry-scented products in general. That’s because most of them smell like strawberries that are about to go off. However, this Just Fruit body mist, which was made in England and is cruelty-free, doesn’t have that obnoxious overly ripe stench that almost all the other strawberry-scented products out there have. Well done, MPM!

Now let’s get to the actual comparison! I think that both body mists are really nice. Anovia’s body mist is fresher, so it’s more suitable for the warmer seasons. However, the Just Fruit body mist is sweeter and, obviously, it’s all about strawberries. Both body mists are available in 150ml bottles. The Anovia body mist is £1 at Poundland, the Just Fruit body mist is 79p at Home Bargains.

I don’t think The Battle Of The 100% Cuelty-Free + Made In The UK Strawberry-Scented Body Mists has a winner. I would definitely recommend both products. If you want a strawberry-scented body spray that smells fresh and authentic, forget about Boots or TBS. Just try these body mists!

Reducing My Oldies Stash – Boots Extracts Fruity Strawberry Body Spray & Zingy Satsuma Body Spray

Hi there! I’m still working through my 2015 Christmas toiletries sets, and I realised that I bought a Boots Extracts fragrance set (just like 2016…). The set was £3 and it contained 3 fragrances (70ml each) – and I will review 2 of them today. Now meet Boots Extracts Fruity Strawberry Body Spray and Boots Extracts Zingy Satsuma Body Spray.
boots-extracts-strawberry-satsuma
Boots Extracts Fruity Strawberry Body Spray isn’t a favourite. The strawberry fragrance isn’t unpleasant, but it smells very generic. I used this body spray once to test it. And now I’ll pass it on to my teenage relative. Actually, my relative will receive 2 of these sprays because both the 2015 set and the 2016 set contained a strawberry body spray. If you’d like to try this product, it’s £3.50 for a 150ml bottle at Boots.

Boots Extracts Zingy Satsuma Body Spray is a limited edition fragrance from 2015. Whilst I think it’s not that special, I have to say that it does smell pleasant. That’s because the satsuma fragrance isn’t just a one-dimensional fruity fragrance. It smells like a mix of satsumas, satsuma peel and orange flower. Quite nice, actually.

Have you tried Boots Extracts products? If so, which products do you love the most? Feel free to get in touch. And thanks for stopping by!

I Love… Strawberries & Cream Bubble Bath and Shower Crème, Nourishing Body Butter and Refreshing Body Spritzer

Hi there! I got myself a few more I Love… products. These were on sale for half price (£1.49) because I Love… is currently giving it’s entire collection a makeover. I think the line didn’t need updating – not yet. That’s because I Love… manages to capture the scents of fruits and sweets perfectly – which is something that some high street brands struggle with. But I don’t want to complain about ‘other brands’. I’d rather tell you what I Love’s… Strawberries & Cream collection is like! 🙂
I Love Strawberries and Cream
I Love… Strawberries & Cream Bath and Shower Cream (available as 500ml) is a gentle bath and shower product. I wouldn’t say it’s moisturising, but it’s certainly not drying. The strawberries & cream fragrance is very sweet!

I Love… Strawberries & Cream Body Butter (available as 200ml) is a reasonable moisturiser. It’s not as thick as many other comparable body butters, so it’s a bit easier to apply. But it isn’t as rich as those thick body butters. Still, it’s definitely a good product! The strawberries & cream scent is sweet, intense and longlasting.

I Love… Strawberries & Cream Body Spritzer (available as 100ml) really is the cat’s whiskers – if you’re into strawberry-scented body sprays. On its own this body spritzer isn’t that longlasting (which is OK). But if you spray it on after you’ve used the matching body butter, you’ll be surrounded by the sweet aromas of strawberries & cream for hours – probably even half a day. I think that’s fairly impressive!

I’m not the biggest fan of super sweet scents in toiletries. So I’ll be giving the body spritzer and the bath and shower cream away. I’ll use up the body butter myself (my fingers have been in the tub, so I wouldn’t want to give this one away). But my teenage relative will surely be happy to take the other two products off my hands.

Saying this, if you’re a fan of strawberry-scented toiletries, I would definitely recommend this I Love… collection. The strawberries & cream fragrance is sweet, intense and much more authentic than some high street brands’ (more expensive) strawberry-scented offerings.

The I Love… Strawberries & Cream product line has been updated – the design of the packaging has changed and some products might be replaced. However, the price seems to have remained the same – most I Love… products are still £2.99.

Kawaii Alert! Positively Fruity Body Washes – Smells Like Sunny Strawberries, Smells Like Wild Cherries, Smells Like Tropical Showers

Hi there! I found these super cute looking Positively Fruity Body Washes at my local Poundland the other day. The tubes were sealed, so I couldn’t have a sniff. But they looked so cute I just had to have them! I found three fragrances – Smells Like Sunny Strawberries, Smells Like Wild Cherries, and Smells Like Tropical Showers.

Before I tell you about the fragrances, let me mention a few things the three body washes have in common: I think they’re quite thin. So be careful to avoid spilling them all over the place. I had to place the tubes in the corner in my shower – upside down! Oh, and the screw lids aren’t very practical…

What I love about these body washes is that they’re not drying at all. They’re gentle and they actually feel moisturising. But unlike some of the heavier shower creams (i.e. Dove), these body washes make me feel refreshed and clean. Thumbs up! And now let’s discuss the fragrances. 🙂
Positively Fruity Shower
Smells Like Sunny Strawberries smells sweet and fruity – like sunny strawberries! I think the strawberry fragrance is quite authentic and not overpoweringly sweet. Very well done!

Smells Like Wild Cherries
is my favourite of the three. It really smells of wild cherries. Again, very authentic. And much better than higher end products costing ten times as much. This one’s going to be a definite spring and summer beauty staple!

Smells Like Tropical Showers is sunny, sweet and tropical! It reminds me of gummy bears and jelly beans – minus the sugar. The coconut isn’t very noticeable (I think that’s great). All in all, a very nice and enjoyable fragrance!

Positively Fruity Body Washes are available as 200ml tubes for £1 each at Poundland. Now my local Poundland has more products from this range – bath salts, cosmetics bags and body lotions. I’ve now bought the body lotions as well, and I’ll try them shortly. So it won’t be long until I tell you what I think about the matching body lotions.

Yves Rocher Red Berries Smoothie Limited Edition Eau de Toilette

YR Red Berries EDTHi there! Today’s post is about this Yves Rocher Red Berries Smoothie Limited Edition Eau de Toilette which I found online.

Let’s be honest, most cheap berry fragrances and body mists either smell of fruits that have gone off or they’re sickly sweet. So I was interested to find out how this EdT would fare.

OK, let’s start! This fragrance contains fruity notes of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries.

This scent is quite pleasant and authentic – it’s fruity, juicy, light and transparent. I think Yves Rocher did a really good job with it.

Of course, it’s not a serious fragrance, but this fruity EdT is a good example of a well done berry fragrance. Despite the simple composition, it’s quite wearable and I think I will actually use it up.

I believe that this Yves Rocher Red Berries Smoothie Limited Edition Eau de Toilette has been discontinued, so you won’t find it easily. However, if you’d like to try it, you should check online.

Superdrug Strawberry & Raspberry Fruity Body Spritz

Superdrug Strawberry and Raspberry Fruity Body SprayHi there! I went a little overboard with my Superdrug shopping again.

This time Superdrug’s Strawberry & Raspberry Fruity Body Spritz was among the random items I felt I had to have.

I’ve been looking for the perfect juicy berry fragrance for years. I can’t bring myself to love the fruity scents from The Body Shop (too synthetic) or Yves Rocher (too sweet), so I was hoping this one could be it.

Well, it’s not. For once, the strawberry note is too pronounced while the raspberries remain in the background.

I also hoped the scent would be at least somewhat fresh – but it’s quite sweet, so it wouldn’t be a good idea to wear it on hot summer days.

On a positive note, the scent lasts for a few hours and it’s a lot less synthetic than The Body Shop’s fruity body mists.

If you are looking for an inexpensive and sweet berry fragrance that’s also cruelty-free, Superdrug’s Strawberry & Raspberry Fruity Body Spritz (100 ml) can be yours for £1.99 only.
