Empties – December 2021

Hi there! Today’s post is about all the products I managed to use up in December; there’s also a breakdown of all my 2021 empties at the bottom. But let’s start with the December empties!

1 M&S The Fragrance Collection Peony & Rhubarb Eau De Toilette – this is a nice fragrance. I’ve gone through 2 bottles (1 x 50ml, 1 x 100ml) now, and I might buy a third (although not too soon)!

2 Superdrug Layering Lab Gelato Body Mist – not a groundbreaking scent, but nice and pleasant enough for everyday wear or for your handbag. I won’t repurchase it though as it’s not a favourite.

3 Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Tonic – one of my all-time favourite skin care products. Yes, I already repurchased it!

4 I Love Elderflower Fizz Scented Bath Salts – I didn’t enjoy these bath salts, and I won’t buy them again.

5 I Love… Tangerine Dream Revitalizing Shower Gel – this was a gigantic 750ml bottle! This shower gel smelled delicious; unfortunately, it has been discontinued.

Palmolive Memories Of Nature Flower Field Shower Gel – a decent shower gel, but not a favourite. I won’t repurchase it.

7 Sanctuary Spa Kuan Jin Lychee & Pearl Bodywash – a beautiful limited edition shower gel. Unfortunately, it can no longer be found, so I can’t buy it again.

8 Imperial Leather Indulgence Irresistible Rich Moisturising Body Wash – I’m not really a fan of lotus or water lily scents, but this shower gel is lovely! I have 1 more bottle in my stash.

9 Herbal Essences Bio Renew Bourbon & Manuka Honey Deep Repair Conditioner – I LOVE this shampoo and conditioner combo. I have a back-up set!

10 Asda Sleep & Relax Bath Soak – such a nice bath gel. I have a few more bottles in my stash.

11 Superdrug Nourishing Pro-Vitamin B5 Body Lotion For Dry Skin – a nice enough body lotion. Much, much better than its incredibly low price would suggest. But I don’t think that I’d buy it again.

12 NYC Expert Last 138 Classy Glassy – a decent clear polish. I think I have at least a few more of these in my stash.

13 Boots Extracts Shea Butter Body Butter – an all-time favourite! Unfortunately discontinued, but I have a few more tubs in my stash!

I also used a bunch of single-use face masks, and you can read about my latest face mask finds if you click here.

Onto the 2021 summary now! I finished 261 beauty products last year. Not bad at all!

109 Single-Use Face Masks
52 Shower & Bath Products
23 Fragrances & Fragrance Mists
16 Body, Hand & Foot Moisturisers

6 Facial Cleansers & Toners
4 Lip Products
3 Serums

100% Vegan & Cruelty-Free – Superdrug Nourishing Pro-Vitamin B5 Body Lotion For Dry Skin

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Superdrug Nourishing Pro-Vitamin B5 Body Lotion For Dry Skin.

In addition to pro-vitamin B5, this body lotion also contains vitamin E which is known to be beneficial for the skin.

I’ve been using this body lotion for a few days now, and I do like it!

This body lotion smells lovely. It has a fresh and fruity scent. I can’t put my finger on it, but it reminds me of pomegranate and spring flowers. Nice!

I’m also happy with the formula. The body lotion sinks right into my skin without leaving a sticky film behind. I’m happy that I don’t have to wait (=waste time) between moisturising and getting dressed.

This is a nice body lotion, and I would recommend it!

Superdrug Nourishing Pro-Vitamin B5 Body Lotion For Dry Skin is available as 375ml for £1.49.

Also, this body lotion is vegan and certified cruelty-free – it carries the Leaping Bunny logo! 😍

The Battle Of The Aloe Vera Lotions: Garnier Intensive 7 Days Hydrating Body Lotion with Aloe Vera vs. Superdrug Soothing Aloe Vera Body Lotion

Hi there! It’s been a while since the last ‘which one is better’ post. However, I just realised that I bought these two body lotions with aloe vera very recently, so I thought I’d look into which one is better.

I’ve got Garnier’s Intensive 7 Days Hydrating Lotion with Aloe Vera and Superdrug’s Soothing Aloe Vera Body Lotion. And now The Battle Of The Aloe Vera Body Lotions is on! 🙂
Garnier Aloe Vera Lotion & Superdrug Aloe Vera Lotion
Garnier’s Aloe Vera Body Lotion for normal skin is a very good moisturiser. It smells subtle, fresh and green. The lotion is fast-absorbing and non-sticky. It makes my skin feel elastic and nicely hydrated.

After using this body lotion once a day for three days my skin felt like silk. I could even get away with not using any body moisturiser at all for the next two days – and my skin still felt and looked great. This body lotion is for normal skin but it made such a difference to my dry and sensitive skin. I’ll definitely buy it again! 10 stars!

Superdrug’s Aloe Vera Body Lotion is a moisturiser for all skin types. It smells absolutely gorgeous. The lotion is fast-absorbing and non-sticky – just like Garnier’s body lotion. However, Superdrug’s body lotion is rather light which, I think, makes it more suitable for summer than for winter.

My skin feels nicely hydrated when I use this body lotion every day. But I really have to use it every day to maintain this effect. In my opinion, Superdrug’s body lotion is decent. But it wouldn’t be my first choice to ‘treat’ dry and sensitive skin in winter.

Verdict: Garnier’s body lotion doesn’t smell as nice as Superdrug’s, and Superdrug’s body lotion gets extra points for being BUAV-approved and cruelty-free (it carries the Leaping Bunny logo). However, because of its skin transforming powers (!) Garnier is the clear winner of The Battle Of The Aloe Vera Body Lotions.

Garnier’s Aloe Vera body lotion is available as 250ml for about £3 to £3.65 and 400ml for £5 to £5.50 – depending on where you shop. I got my 250ml bottle for £1.49 which is definitely good value. If you look for a bargain, the 250 ml bottle is currently £1.50 at Wilko’s.

Superdrug’s Aloe Vera body lotion is available as 375ml for £1.49. I spent 99p for this product and there is usually some kind of deal (usually 1/3 off) at Superdrug.

Superdrug Cocoa Butter & Vanilla Body Lotion

Superdrug Cocoa Vanilla BL111Hi there! It’s been six months since I bought my first tub of Superdrug’s Cocoa Butter & Vanilla Body Butter, so I’ve now given Superdrug’s Cocoa Butter & Vanilla Body Lotion a try.

The scent is the same – this body lotion smells lovely and sweet, but it’s no surprise since it contains cocoa butter and vanilla. The scent leans towards vanilla, but I don’t mind because it reminds me of vanilla milk.

But this body lotion doesn’t only smell divine, it’s also fantastic at moisturising. This body lotion is wonderful and it makes my skin feel soft and silky all day long. I’ll definitely buy it again!

Superdrug Cocoa Butter & Vanilla Body Lotion is available as 200 ml for £2.99 – but now there’s a BOGOF offer. Just like the other Superdrug beauty products, this lotion carries the Leaping Bunny logo. It’s cruelty-free and suitable for vegans.
