Empties – April 2021

Hi there! It’s the first weekday in May, so it’s time for my April Empties post. I used 11 single-use face masks – and you can read about my latest face mask finds here. Now let’s get to the bigger bottles, tubes and tubs!

1 Alberto Balsam Stunning Shine Shampoo & Conditioner – I loved this conditioner (and the matching shampoo). Unfortunately, the entire Blends line has been discontinued. 😩

2 Sainsburys The Collection Sleep Relax Bath Soak – what a surprise find! I have repurchased this one already! My husband used this bath product too, so this is a shared empty.

3 Boots Live + Be Beautiful Connection Bath Soak – this was nice, but I wouldn’t buy it again. I’ve had enough rose-scented stuff for the moment.

4 CiatĂ© Cabaret – I liked this colour. I wore it on its own a few times, and it looked really good. I won’t repurchase it though. I have lots of similar nail polishes.

5 Olay Anti-Wrinkle Firm & Lift Day Lotion – a beauty staple! Love it! ♄

6 Cellio It’s True Honey Moisture Cream – a lovely moisturiser. I would buy it again!

7 Superdrug Layering Lab Blossom Body Mist – the perfect Mugler Alien dupe as a body mist. I have already stocked up.

8 Tesco Kind & Pure Refreshing Face Wash – a decent face wash. I’d repurchase it (although not now as I have a few other face washes to finish).

9 Boots Extracts Sweet Mango Body Scrub – a great product. Too bad the entire line has been discontinued! 😩

10 Radox “Perky Peach” Peach & Berry Scent Shower Gel – a great shower gel! I’d like to buy it again.

11 Superdrug Layering Lab Blossom Body Lotion – I’m glad this body lotion is gone! Bye!

12 Superdrug Layering Lab Blossom Shower Foam – I didn’t care for it at all, and I won’t buy it again.

13 Boots Live + Be Awakening Glow Body Mist – this was nice enough while it lasted, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

14 Creightons Manuka Honey Hydrating Hand Cream – one of my favourite hand creams. I would like to repurchase it!

15 Creightons Cocoa Butter Softening Hand Cream – another great hand cream that I’d be happy to buy again.

16 L’OrĂ©al Elvive Full Restore 5 Repairing Cica-Masque – this is actually a really good hair mask but the fragrance started to annoy me half-way through the tub, so I won’t be repurchasing this product any time soon.

17 Boots Extracts Rosehip Body Butter – OMG, I love this body butter! The Extracts line has been discontinued, but I have a few more tubs.

And this is everything I managed to finish in April. Not bad! Which products have you said goodbye to recently? Feel free to let me know via the comments. And thanks for reading!

100% Vegan & Cruelty-Free – Superdrug Layering Lab Blossom Body Wash, Body Lotion, Shower Foam & Shower Jelly

Hi there! Today’s post is about a bunch of body products – Superdrug Layering Lab Blossom Body Wash, Body Lotion, Shower Foam & Shower Jelly. I bought these products because they’re supposed to match the fragrance of Superdrug’s Layering Lab Blossom Body Mist which is a perfect dupe for Mugler’s Alien fragrance. Let’s see if the body products are any good!

Let’s start with Superdrug Layering Lab Blossom Body Wash which is actually the last Blossom products I tried. I think this is a basic shower gel. I hate the bottle and the formula. It takes a lot of time and effort to squeeze the shower gel out of the tube. I don’t even understand what the problem is… with respect to the fragrance… it’s pretty random, and it bears no resemblance to Mugler’s Alien fragrance!

Superdrug Layering Lab Blossom Body Lotion is OK. What I like about it is that it’s quick and easy to massage into the skin, and that it doesn’t leave a sticky film on the skin. However, the fragrance is not my favourite – it’s a sharp artificial scent. Fortunately, it evaporates quickly. No resemblance to Mugler’s Alien.

Superdrug Layering Lab Blossom Shower Foam (150ml) was the first product of this bunch that I tried. The foam is fun to use, but it doesn’t feel very cleansing. And the fragrance is best described as negligible. It hardly smells of anything, and the little fragrance there is… well, it’s not even nice. No resemblance to Mugler’s Alien.

Superdrug Layering Lab Blossom Shower Jelly (200ml) is an odd product. I’ve never used a shower jelly, so I didn’t know what to expect. To make a long story short… I didn’t like the formula. The jelly is quite stiff, and it takes ages to transform it into a lather. Some patches of jelly remained jelly. It was impossible to lather them up. If all shower jellies are like this, I’ll be happy to never touch one again. With respect to the fragrance… it’s a random sharp fragrance. It’s not as bad as the shower foam or the body lotion, but also no resemblance to Mugler’s Alien.

All in all, I wouldn’t buy these products again. Based on the poor quality of these products, I won’t be trying any other shower, bath or body care product from the Layering Lab collection, regardless of the fragrance. On a positive note, these products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free, they’re even certified by BUAV – they carry the Leaping Bunny logo! If you’re interested, these products start at ÂŁ3.99, and Superdrug usually runs some kind of offer on the Layering Lab products. I bought these when they were on Buy 1 Get 2nd Half Price, so just under ÂŁ12 for these 4 products. Still, a total waste of money in my book – I’m really struggling to finish these products. I’m forcing myself to keep using them!
