October Beauty Awards

Hi there! Today’s post is about my favourite products in October. Blog-wise, it hasn’t been the busiest month – that’s because work has been so busy. And this also means that I don’t have too many beauty favourites. However, here are the truly tremendous Top 3!

3rd place – Superdrug Extracts Banana 3 In 1 Hair Mask

Superdrug’s banana hair mask is an amazing product. My hair loves it!

Runner-Up – Poundland #6 Vit C Toner
WINNER – Nuxe Rêve de Miel Eau Savoureuse Parfumante / Delectable Fragrant Water

Poundland’s Vit C Toner has been a skin care staple for about 2 months now. An amazing product with amazing ingredients. I love it!
Nuxe’s Rêve De Miel is one of the loveliest fragrances I’ve come across over the past few years. What a wonderful find!

Poundland #6 Vit C Toner

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Poundland #6 Vit C Toner. Poundland is not the first shop that comes to mind when you think of skin care. But their #6 range is actually quite good. I tried a bunch of their products, and I don’t remember a single stinker.

When I saw this vitamin C toner, I had to have it. I love vitamin C in skin care, and this toner is a ridiculous £3, so why would I leave it on the shelf?

Looking at the ingredients, glycolic acid is the 2nd ingredient, and vitamin C is the 3rd – this is really amazing! This toner also contains aloe vera leaf juice and a bit of retinol. Wow!

I’ve been using this toner for about 2 months now, and I’ve loved it from day 1. It’s quite a powerful toner. It exfoliates and brightens the skin. I use it every morning, and I can feel its exfoliating power. This toner has made a visible difference to my skin, and I love it very much!

With respect to its strength, I think this toner is comparable to Superdrug’s Naturally Radiant toner. However, you should still patch test this toner before you use it. Glycolic acid is powerful stuff, so make sure your skin tolerates it.

If you’re interested, Poundland #6 Vit C Toner is availabe as 200ml for £3. On the back of the bottle is also says that the product is vegan and cruelty-free!

100% Pure Awesomeness – Nuxe Rêve de Miel Eau Savoureuse Parfumante / Delectable Fragrant Water

Hi there! Happy Friday! Today’s post is about this Nuxe Rêve de Miel Eau Savoureuse Parfumante – or Delectable Fragrant Water.

I went to M&S the other day to try out a bunch of fragrances – and I came across this beauty. I sprayed it on me, let my husband have a sniff who then also sprayed it on himself – and a few minutes later we decided to buy this simply wonderful fragrance!

What does it smell like? According to Nuxe, it contains citrus notes, flowers, honey, sandalwood, tonka bean, orange blossom and musk. I think it smells like a sunkissed floral honey – like actual honey! The fragrance is sweet and gentle… it’s so lovely! Even though it’s just a “fragrant water” formula, it lasts for a long time on my skin, my scarves and my tops. Very nice!

My husband also enjoys this fragrance every once in a while – when he is in the mood for a sweet and cuddly fragrance.

Based on my own experience, I’d recommend this product. Interested? Nuxe Rêve de Miel Eau Savoureuse Parfumante / Delectable Fragrant Water is available as 100ml for £29.50 (M&S).

As always, make sure you’re not allergic to any of the ingredients before use!

100% Vegan & Cruelty-Free – Superdrug Extracts Banana 3 In 1 Hair Mask

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Superdrug Extracts Banana 3 In 1 Hair Mask which promises to nourish dry hair. Accoding to Superdrug, this hair mask can be used in 3 ways:

– as a conditioner (after you’ve rinsed out your shampoo, leave it in for 2 minutes),
– as a rinse-out hair mask (after you’ve rinsed out your shampoo, leave it in for 10 minutes),
– or as a leave-in conditioner (work it into dry or damp hair).

I’m not a fan of leave-in products as I hate the feeling of “product” in my hair, and I have no time to do a 10 minute hair mask. But I’ve been using this product as a conditioner (leaving it in for 2-3 minutes), and here’s what I think…

I think this hair mask is fab when used as a quick deep conditioner for 2-3 minutes. I like the fruity banana scent – very gourmand! And I like that this hair mask leaves my hair feeling soft and clean. Some hair care products can weigh down my hair, and others seem to grease up my hair rather quickly. But this hair mask doesn’t do any of that. I think this hair mask also adds a bit of volume for about half a day. All in all, this banana hair mask gives me lighweight, soft and fluffy (!) hair. 😀

Based on my experience, I’d recommend this hair mask. Superdrug Extracts Banana 3 In 1 Hair Mask is available as 300ml for £4.99. I paid £2.49 (half price offer). Also, this hair mask carries the Leaping Bunny logo – this means that it’s certified cruelty-free. The ingredients and the overall product are also vegan!

Revisiting Old Favourites – Original Source Skin Quench Cherry & Jojoba Oil Moisturising Shower, Original Source Pink Grapefruit Shower

Hi there! Today’s post is about 2 shower gels I found in my stash – Original Source Skin Quench Cherry & Jojoba Oil Moisturising Shower and Original Source Pink Grapefruit Shower. These are from a little while ago, and they’re also discontinued, but these are back-up bottles that I bought because I liked those shower gels. But do I still like them?

Let’s start with Original Source Skin Quench Cherry & Jojoba Oil Moisturising Shower! This shower gel is really lovely – it smells like candy cherries – it actually reminds me of Haribo’s Happy Cherries. 🍒 Very nice! I also like that it’s super gentle on the skin. I wouldn’t say it”s moisturising, but it’s much, much gentler than most shower gels.

Original Source Pink Grapefruit Shower is absolutely lovely too. What a wonderfully refreshing shower gel! I adore the tart and zesty grapefruit (and lemon) fragrance. This shower gel is a real treat! I have a few more of these – and they’re definitely stash-worthy!

Original Source Skin Quench Cherry & Jojoba Oil Moisturising Shower and Original Source Pink Grapefruit Shower are (or were) available as 250ml each, and I paid £1 each (they were from Poundland or B&M).

100% Vegan & Cruelty-Free – Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glow Gentle Cleansing Milk

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glow Gentle Cleansing Milk.

The Naturally Radiant Glow range intends to rebalance the skin and to minimise blemishes and signs of irritation for a calmer, soothed and more healthy looking complexion.

This cleansing milk contains vegan coconut yoghurt and a prebiotic complex which promises to help maintain the skin’s natural microbiome.

How do you use it? Use it as you’d use any other cleansing milk or cleansing cream. Squeeze a bit of product onto a cotton pad, and use it to dissolve and remove your make-up. Then use a toner after and follow with your regular skin care routine.

I’ve been using this product on and off for a few weeks now, and I think it’s quite good. I like the faint yoghurty scent – nice, clean, fresh.

I’m happy to report that this cleansing milk doesn’t smell overly coconutty. This is great because I’m not a fan of coconut flavours and scents.

This cleansing milk also does a reasonable job removing make-up. Granted, I’m not making the biggest effort with eye make-up at the moment, and I mainly wear foundation and lipstick, but this cleansing milk gets rid of almost all traces of make-up. I tried a few different toners to see how much leftover product they’d catch – and it’s always just a hint of beige.

I will continue to use this product, and I would recommend it (as always – just make sure you’re not allergic to any of the ingredients). If you’re interested, Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glow Gentle Cleansing Milk is available as 150ml. The price has recently gone up from £6.99 to £7.99. I paid £3.49 (half price offer before the price went up). Keep your eyes peeled for the very frequent Better Than Half Price and Buy One Get One Free promotions on the Naturally Radiant range. Oh, one more thing, this product is vegan and cruelty-free (it carries The Leaping Bunny logo). 😍

Boots Glow Pineapple Serum

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Boots Glow Pineapple Serum.

This serum promises “to smooth and care for the skin.” This isn’t the most specific claim, but I guess they don’t really bother with a £4 product.

Anyhoo… I’ve been using this product for a few weeks now. And I think it’s actually quite alright. The serum I used before (also Boots) wasn’t great, so this one was much nicer from day 1!

This is a typical serum formula. It’s not a gel, but it’s also not watery. I guess it’s something in between. Quite nice. I like it!

The serum sinks into my skin beautifully. It does feel like “product” but in the most non-smothering way. It feels quite good.

Would I say that this serum is smoothing and caring? I guess it is. Don’t expect miracles, but this is definitely a decent serum, especially for the tiny price tag.

If you’re interested, Boots Glow Pineapple Serum is available as 30ml for £4 (I think it’s £3 at the moment for Advantage Card holders). I bought this product when Boots ran a 3 for 2 promotion on their Glow products.

By the way, according to Boots, this product is vegan and cruelty-free! 😍

Empties – September 2022

Hi there! Today’s post is about all the products I finished in September. I used a few single-use face masks – as usual. And I didn’t keep the sticky sachets – as usual. So let’s look at the bottles and tubes and what not…

1 Essence XXXL Nude Lipgloss 06 Soft Almond – I love this lipgloss so much! A shame it’s been discontinued.

2 Marks & Spencer Spiced Bergamot Eau De Toilette – one of my favourite summer fragrances. I love fresh, citrusy fragrances which remind me of Light Blue (nope, this is not a dupe for Light Blue), so this one is right up my alley. I already bought 2 backup bottles!

3 Boots Ingredients Niacinamide Serum – this is a basic serum. Too basic for me. I wouldn’t buy it again.

4 Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Age-Defying Cream – what a wonderful skin treat! I love this moisturiser. I believe I have another one in my stash.

5 Pantene Pro-V Miracles Silky & Glowing Biotin & Hydrolised Silk Protein Shampoo & Conditioner – I didn’t care for this hair mask. I’m glad it’s finished now, and I won’t be buying it again.

6 Astonish Body & Soul Refreshing Golden Glow Bath Soak – this is a lovely bath soak. I’ve already respurchased it.

7 NSPA Grapefruit Shower & Bath Gel – this is such a beautiful shower gel. A shame it’s been discontinued.

8 Palmolive Sauna Retreat Shower Gel – a really lovely shower gel. I would repurchase it.

9 Herbal Essences Moisture Balance Conditioner – HOLY GRAIL stuff. I have plenty of back-up.

10 Classics Nail Polish Remover – my go-to nail polish remover!

And this is already it. September wasn’t the best month for Empties, but I hope I’ll do better for the last 3 months of the year. Thanks for stopping by today! xx
