July Beauty Awards

Hi there! Happy Friday! It’s the last working day of the month, so today’s post is about my favourite products in July. And here are the TOP 3!

3rd place – Yves Rocher Un Matin Au Jardin Cerisier En Fleurs Eau De Toilette
Runner-Up – Salvador Dali Dalissime Eau De Toilette

The bronze medal goes to Yves Rocher for their beautiful Cerisier En Fleurs fragrance. This was a lovely surprise!

And Salvador Dali’s Dalissime came in 2nd. Dalissime is one of my all-time favourite fragrances, and it would have taken the number 1 spot in almost any other month – just not this month.

WINNER – Aussie Mega Shampoo & Conditioner

What can I say about Aussie Mega? These 2 products are pure heaven for daily hair washers like me! My husband also loves the shampoo – he uses a mild shampoo in the morning, but Aussie Mega is the perfect after-work shampoo for him.

This is it for this month. Please feel free to let me know if you’ve tried any of these products. Or let me know which products you can’t get enough of at the moment. And thanks for stopping by today! xx

Pantene Pro-V Miracles Silky & Glowing Biotin & Hydrolised Silk Protein Shampoo & Conditioner

Hi there! Today’s post is about the hair care combo I’m using at the moment – Pantene Pro-V Miracles Silky & Glowing Biotin & Hydrolised Silk Protein Shampoo & Conditioner. These 2 products promise to repair straw-like or processed hair to silky soft.

Pantene Pro-V Miracles Silky & Glowing Biotin & Hydrolised Silk Protein Shampoo is a creamy white shampoo. It doesn’t look or smell spectacular. It has a dense, warm and almost cloying scent. Something I can’t describe plus coconut. Not really great for summer. It does feel nice on my hair and my head though.

Pantene Pro-V Miracles Silky & Glowing Biotin & Hydrolised Silk Protein Conditioner is a weird one. It doesn’t have that typical conditioner formula. This one’s more like a cream. I need quite a bit of product to be able to detangle my hair. I also don’t like the fragrance. It has a strong chemical smell – reminiscent of hair dye – plus lots of coconut. It doesn’t smell good.

I’ve also noticed that this hair care combo does the opposite of what it’s supposed to do. Instead of silky and soft hair, it leaves me with crunchy hair after every single wash. So I now wear my hair up during the day. ☹️ Well, I won’t buy this hair care combo again.

If you’re interested, Pantene Pro-V Miracles Silky & Glowing Biotin & Hydrolised Silk Protein Shampoo & Conditioner are available as 400ml and 275ml respectively. These products are usually about £5 each, but I paid £2.50 each (with Tesco Clubcard).

Yves Rocher Un Matin Au Jardin Cerisier En Fleurs Eau De Toilette

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Yves Rocher Un Matin Au Jardin Cerisier En Fleurs Eau De Toilette which I received as a free gift with a previous Yves Rocher order. Yes, a full size fragrance as a free gift… I really miss Yves Rocher in the UK. 😭

Alrighty, this fragrance contains the following notes: Green notes and mandarin (top notes), cherry blossom and almond blossom (heart notes), and musk and patchouli (base notes).

I’ve been wearing this fragrance for a few days now, and I like it a lot! This is a rather light fragrance that doesn’t last for more than 2-3 hours and that stays close to the skin. I’m generally a rather liberal sprayer of perfume, so with this one I can spray away to my heart’s content!

The fragrance itself is beautiful – it smells like cherry blossoms with a hint of lemon and strawberry, kissed by almond blossoms. The overall feel of this fragrance is floral, airy and transparent, youthful, definitely fresh and light, and absolutely perfect for spring and summer. ☀️

Based on my experience, I’d recommend this fragrance. Yves Rocher Un Matin Au Jardin Cerisier En Fleurs Eau De Toilette is available as 100ml. Mine was a free gift with purchase.

Imperial Leather You Are My Sunshine Rainbow Rose & Raspberry Kisses Icons Shower Gel, Cussons Creations Peace Bottled Apple & Elderflower Shower Gel

Hi there! Today’s post is about 2 shower gels with long names – Imperial Leather You Are My Sunshine Rainbow Rose & Raspberry Kisses Icons Shower Gel and Cussons Creations Peace Bottled Apple & Elderflower Shower Gel. I found these at Poundland just last week.

Let’s start with Imperial Leather You Are My Sunshine Rainbow Rose & Raspberry Kisses Icons Shower Gel which looks and smells super cute. The fragrance reminds me of those boiled raspberry sweets which I loved when I was a kid. I need to check if they’re still around. In the meantime, this delicious shower gel will have to do.

Onto Cussons Creations Peace Bottled Apple & Elderflower Shower Gel which smells absolutely lovely and luxurious from the bottle. Unfortunately, this shower gel doesn’t smell as nice as it’s lathered up; think supermarket own brand apple and elderflower fizzy water. Still, it’s definitely a decent shower gel for this time of year as it smells green, fresh and fruity. And I love that this shower gel is PETA-approved, so it’s certified cruelty-free! 😍

Imperial Leather You Are My Sunshine Rainbow Rose & Raspberry Kisses Icons Shower Gel and Cussons Creations Peace Bottled Apple & Elderflower Shower Gel are available as 400ml each. I paid £1 each.

Maui Moisture Body Care Extra Hydrating + Shea Butter Body Lotion

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Maui Moisture Body Care Extra Hydrating + Shea Butter Body Lotion for very dry skin. This body lotion also contains coconut oil and macadamia oil, and it promises to soften, quench and revive the skin.

According to the manufacturer, this body lotion is vegan and cruelty-free, and it doesn’t contain mineral oils, silicones, parabens, SLS, sulfate surfectants, synthetic dyes or ALES. Instead, the product contains pure coconut water and aloe juice.

I’ve been using this body lotion once to twice daily for the past 3 weeks, and I’m not blown away. Compared to Maui’s Volcanic Ash Body Lotion, this body lotion is reasier to massage into the skin. Definitely a good thing!

Unfortunately, I don’t feel any longlasting hydration. This body lotion feels sticky for a few minutes (the current hot weather doesn’t help), but a few hours later, my skin feels like paper. 🙁

The fragrance isn’t my favourite. It’s shea (nice) and coconut (not so nice). It’s not a bad fragrance at all – just not something I’d love. My husband actually likes the fragrance of this body lotion, so I will continue to use it a few times per week. However, I’m for the days that I’m not using this body lotion, I’m using a more hydrating skin care product.

I’m a bit sad that, of the 3 Maui products that I tried, none worked for me. But you might have a different experience. If you’re interested, Maui Moisture Body Care Extra Hydrating + Shea Butter Body Lotion is available as 384ml. I believe I paid £4 (TK Maxx).

Boots Glow Banana Toner

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Boots Glow Banana Toner which I’ve been using once to twice a day for the past 3 weeks.

This toner claims to refine the pores and to make the skin appear smoother.

This toner contains niacinamide which is listed as the third ingredient on the back of the bottle. Unfortunately, Boots doesn’t state the percentage.

Alrighty, how’s the toner? Well, it does have a beautiful foamy banana fragrance. However, this toner isn’t the best one for my skin type.

Whilst I like that this toner leaves my skin feeling velvety soft, I don’t find it cleansing enough. Within 2-3 days of starting this toner, I noticed considerably more impurities.

I haven’t started to use any other new products for well over a month, I haven’t taken any new medication, and I also haven’t eaten a lot of junk food. What other explanation could there be? I’ve also noticed that my dark patches (melasma) have become a lot more visible over the past 2 weeks. The only difference in my skin care routine is this toner.

I will continue to use this toner after I’ve cleansed my face in the evening. It’s super gentle, so I’m happy to use it around my entire face – the eye area included – to remove the last traces of make-up. However, as part of my morning routine, I’ll go back to using a vitamin C or glycolic acid toner.

I won’t buy this toner again, but I might try other products from this collection. If you’re interested, Boots Glow Banana Toner is available as 100ml for £4. Boots sometimes runs 3 for 2 promotions across their Glow and Ingredients ranges, so if you’re on a budget, you can try an extra product for free. On another note, on the back of the bottle it says that this toner is vegan and cruelty-free. This is great!

Revisiting Old Favourites – Aussie Mega Shampoo & Conditioner

Hi there! Today’s post is about a hair care combo that I loved but haven’t used for ages – Aussie Mega Shampoo & Conditioner. These 2 products are aimed at daily washers like me, and they promise effective everyday cleansing.

Let’s start with the shampoo! I simply love Aussie Mega Shampoo! It smells divine – like gummy bears and flowers. And it cleanses my hair and my scalp gently and effectively. Truly great stuff!

Aussie Mega Conditioner is amazing too. I don’t even need to use a lot of product to condition and to detangle my hair. This stuff is brilliantly effective! I love it!

I’m glad I repurchased these amazing products. It won’t be another 4 years until I pick them up again. In fact, I’m already on the lookout for special offers, so these hair super heroes will become beauty staples!

If you’re interested, Aussie Mega Shampoo is available as 90, 300 and 500ml. Aussie Mega Conditioner is available as 90, 200 and 350ml. Price vary greatly (taking special offers into account).
