Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum

Hi there! Today’s post is about this Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum. This is the old packaging – I bought this serum for £12.99 at a local bargain store (I am 90% certain that it was B&M). I had a day moisturiser from this range before – and I loved it. So why would I not give the matching serum a try?

Alrighty, this serum is meant to be the 2nd step in your skin care routine. You’re supposed to use it between cleansing and moisturising. This serum promises to regenerate the skin’s youthful look, to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and to exfoliate and brighten the skin.

I’ve been using this serum for a month, and I love it. I fell in love with it the first time I used it. This serum has a tightening effect. I could feel it right away, and it was so good! I also found that my skin felt much smoother immediately after applyig the serum. Simply beautiful!

I love how the serum sinks into the skin and that it works well with all my other products without balling up. If only all products were like this!  😀

I’ve also noticed a more even skin tone again. Whilst my face has shades of beige, grey, pink and brown, it is a lot more beige and grey lately. I am pale, and beige and grey are just what my skin looks like. There is hardly any pink now. Yay! Less irritation and fewer spots! And there is a lot less brown too. I have melasma, and the brown patches on my forehead, between my nose and lips and elsewhere on my face are quite the contrast to my pale skin. But this serum (and a bunch of other Olay Regenerist products which I am using at the moment) helped a lot and evened out my skin tone again! Amazing stuff!

Based on my experience, I would not hesitate to recommend this serum. It’s one of my favourite products, and I will buy it again! Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum is available as 50ml. The current price is £34, but over the past 2 weeks, I’ve seen it for half price (Sainsbury’s with Nectar Card) and on a BOGOF offer (Superdrug). So keep your eyes peeled for special offers!

Boots Botanics Super Serum Triple Age Renewal

Hi there! Today I’m reviewing the day serum that I’ve been using for quite some time now. It’s called Boots Botanics Super Serum Triple Age Renewal. This serum claims to stimulate cell renewal, to visibly reduce the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles, and to improve skin firmness in 4 weeks. It contains hyaluronic acid, vitamins A, C and E, soy protein, moisturising sugars and plant antioxidants from purple orchids. Oh, and the serum is made in the UK!

So how’s the serum? I think it’s quite good! It’s quick and easy to apply, it’s absorbed almost instantly, and it feels moisturising. It also plays well with all sorts of different moisturisers. I don’t think that my skin feels firmer, and I can’t comment on whether this serum helps with deep lines and wrinkles because, fortunately, I don’t have any deep lines or wrinkles (yet). However, I do have a few fine lines on my forehead, and they seem to be less visible than a few weeks ago. Awesome!

In summary, I like this serum and I would recommend it! Boots repackaged the entire Botanics collection, and the prices seem to have gone up quite a bit. I paid £4 for my 30ml pump bottle in the old packaging, whilst the current version of the serum is just under £10, I believe. But please correct me if I’m wrong!

Have you tried this product? If so, how do / did you like it? Feel free to comment. And thanks for reading!

Clarins Double Serum – Complete Age Control Concentrate

Hi there! It’s sample time again today. 🙂 I’ve had this Clarins Double Serum sample for ages. I was reluctant to try it because I once suffered a horrible reaction from using a different high-end serum (different brand), and a few (literally a few) reviewers who tried this Clarins Double Serum reported unpleasant skin reactions.

Clarins Double SerumBut I’ve now finally tried this serum – and I made sure it wouldn’t get anywhere near my eyes. And as soon as I had applied it, I washed my hands right away – just to be on the safe side.

The serum didn’t irritate my skin at all. So my worries were unfounded. But the serum didn’t do much for me.

I’m used to creamy serums which make my skin feel velvety in an instant. So I’m not in love with the thin formula of this serum. And I didn’t like that the serum became sticky while I was still smoothing it into my skin. But that’s down to personal preference and the next lady might love this formula.

Now back to why the serum didn’t work for me. OK, the serum claims to to make pores less visible and to target skin ageing in general. I acknowledge my review is based on a single use of this serum, so I can’t comment on its long term benefits. But I found that it actually made my pores look bigger than usual.

I also thought the serum could be more nourishing. I’m not saying it dried out my skin, but I put on moisturiser three times today because my skin felt less soft and supple than usual.

So based on my experience (a one-off use of this serum) I can say for sure I won’t be buying the full-size product. Clarins Double Serum may work fine for ladies with different skin types, and it may even be the best wrinkle-smoother in the world if it’s used long-term. But I won’t be spending £56 on the full-size product just to conduct a more extensive trial on a product I really didn’t like in the first place (runny, then sticky texture, not nourishing, made my pores look bigger).

Have you tried this serum? How’s it working for you? Is it the holy grail serum for you if you use it regularly? Please share your experience with me. 🙂 And thanks for stopping by!

Yves Rocher Complete Anti-Age Global Serum

Hi there! Not too long ago I got this Complete Anti-Aging Serum sample from Yves Rocher’s Anti-Age Global product line. This serum claims to leave skin “delightfully soft and velvety”, and it’s meant to be used with the Anti-Age Global day cream. I didn’t get a sample of the day cream, though.

YR sample Anti Age Global Serum2I’ve now tried this serum (under my trusted Olay moisturiser) and I’d like to share my findings with you.

The formula of this serum is very thin, almost like water. I massaged it into my skin – very gently – until it had sunk in.

Unfortunately the serum didn’t feel great on my skin. It felt more like a mattifying moisturiser for oily skin. Unsurprisingly, this didn’t feel great on my dry skin at all.

In summary, my skin didn’t feel velvety or soft. My skin actually felt tight and in desperate need of a moisturiser. I left my skin and the serum alone for a few minutes because I had to know if the product would change for the better. But it didn’t.

I also checked my face in the mirror to see whether the serum had any instant smoothing properties. But that’s another no. (So I gave up and put some moisturiser on my skin.) On a positive note, the serum smelled pleasant and it didn’t sting or burn.

Based on my experience with this product, I wouldn’t recommend it. Yes, I used the serum once only. But that was enough for me to be sure I won’t be buying the full size product.

If you want to give this Complete Anti-Aging Serum from Yves Rocher’s Anti-Age Global product line a try, the 30ml bottle is available for £50. Yves Rocher does half price and BOGOF deals all the time, but I’d definitely recommend you ask for a sample before blind-buying this product.
