Hi there! Today’s post is about a mani I did a few months ago.
I’ve wanted to do a foil tutorial for ages, and I wanted to use this photo for said tutorial, but I haven’t had the time to put everything together. But I hope to do a proper tutorial next month!
Alright, back to this mani! I painted my nails with Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro 430 Black Satin (2 coats). I like this black polish!
And whilst this polish looked nice on its own, I wanted more than plain black nails. So I used blue and fuchsia foils to add some colour to my nails. Job done!
I was very happy with how this mani turned out. Do you agree? Feel free to comment. And thanks for reading!
Hi there! I hope everyone had a good week. 🙂 Today’s post is my weekly recap. So let me tell you what I’ve been up to on my blog this week…
Monday 20 Feb – Beauty Hoarder Problems / Countless Back-Ups
Monday’s post was about another problem that beauty hoarders have to deal with – countless back-ups! Click here if you want to read the post.
Tuesday 21 Feb – Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner 038 Allure
On Tuesday I reviewed one of the lipliners that I have several back-ups of – Rimmel’s Allure lipliner. If you’d like to read the post, click here.
Wednesday 22 Feb – John Frieda Frizz Ease Forever Smooth Samples
Wednesday’s post was about the John Frieda Frizz Ease Forever Smooth hair products (shampoo, conditioner, anti-frizz primer) which I had samples of. Click here if you’d like to read my review.
Thursday 23 Feb – Nail Of The Day
Friday 24 Feb – Superdrug Orange & Black Lava Exfoliating Face Mask
Thursday’s post was another nail post. I did a colourful foil mani. Click here to read the post. And on Friday I reviewed Superdrug’s (fairly new) Orange & Black Lava Exfoliating Mask. If you’d like to read this post, click here.
Oh, and I’d like to give you an update on the progress I’ve made with my Sleek Au Naturel palette. A little while back I told you that I’m trying to finish this eye palette. If you’d like to read the post, click here. Anyway, I’ve now emptied 5 of the 12 pans, I’ll be emptying 2 more pans soon (pans 3 and 6, top row), and I’m also concentrating on the dark matte shades (pans 3 and 5, bottom row). Not bad, eh? Feel free to let me know what you think! 🙂
And this is it for this week. I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend. And thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Hi there! Today’s post is another Nail Of The Day post. 🙂
For this mani I painted my nails with Rimmel 60 Seconds 820 Hot Black To Go. Whilst this polish doesn’t dry in 60 seconds (or 120, or 180…), I do like it!
Hot Black To Go is almost a one-coater (I need to try if it stamps!), and it’s perfect for foil manis! 🙂 But let’s move on… for this mani I used a colourful foil (with a somewhat psychedelic pattern) which I applied several ‘layers’ of.
How does this work? It’s super easy. All you have to do is press the foils onto the near-dry-yet-still-tacky nail polish and peel them off again – it’s almost like ripping off a band aid! 😀
I think this mani turned out alright. It’s considerably more colourful than intended, but I couldn’t help myself. I just kept adding to it! Also, many apologies for the so-so picture. Foil manis can be difficult to capture on camera, and they can look ‘rough’ in pictures – but they’ll always look better in real life.
I’ll do a tutorial on foils shortly! It’s going to be fun, I promise. And it’s super easy to do! Feel free to comment. And thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Hi there! I’ve got another mani post for you today. I’ve done quite a few manis which I never got around to show you, so I’ve decided that I’m doing another nail week this week.
For this mani I painted my nails with Rimmel I ♥ Lasting Finish 080 Black Cab (2 coats).
This polish is one of those that I only use as a background colour for foil manis because the formula is just awful. 😦
Why? Well, the polish is thin, it’s poorly pigmented, it takes ages to dry and (despite the name) this polish just doesn’t last long.
I’m talking about visible tip wear in under half a day and chipping within 24 hours…
Rimmel’s I ♥ Lasting Finish collection is definitely my least favourite Rimmel collection.
But back to this mani! I intended to do a messy foil gradient (green, yellow, orange, red). But the first attempt (which you’ll never see any photographic evidence of) went wrong, so I redid the mani – in a much simpler way. So whilst I didn’t manage to do a foil gradient this time, I was still happy with how this mani turned out.
What do you think? Feel free to let me know. And thanks for reading!
Hi there! I haven’t done a foil mani in ages – and I don’t even know why. So, finally, I did another one!
At first I painted my nails with NYC In A Minute 001 Evil. Not too long ago, when I couldn’t find my black Revlon Colorstay polish, I used this polish for stamping. However, 001 Evil is better for actual nail painting than for stamping.
Since I have many leftover foils in different colours, choosing the right colours wasn’t easy. I started with a gold foil which made the mani look christmassey right away. So to avoid an unseasonably christmassey finish, I used blue and fuchsia foils too.
I’m happy with how the mani turned out. And I got several compliments which made me realise I need to do foil manis more often. I might do another one in a few days. Feel free to let me know what you think. And thank for reading! 🙂
Hi there! Today’s post is about a mani I did a few weeks ago when my nails were shorter. I’m only doing the post now because I didn’t save the photo where I’d normally save it.
But let’s start! I used Rimmel I ♥ Lasting Finish 080 Black Cab as my base colour. I really like this black polish because it doesn’t dry too quickly (great for foils).
I let the polish dry to the point where it would be tacky – and then I started to press different foils (rainbow, gold, blue, purple, red, green, pink, etc) onto my nails. I repeated this process until all the nails looked like they were covered in unicorn puke. 😀
Then I let the mani dry for a while before I applied one coat of regular clear polish.
And this is the finished mani. I’m sorry the nails look messy in the photo – I should have cleaned up around the cuticles before taking the photo. The blurriness is real though – that’s what the mani looked like. 🙂 Sorry about the word puke. But I looked at the finished mani and I thought ‘this is what unicorn puke must look like’. There it was again! Oops! Anyway, thanks for stopping by. The next post will be a regular product review, I promise!
Hi there! A couple of weeks ago I did a foils & stamping mani. I really liked how it turned out. So I thought I could try something similar – but this time with green base colours.
I selected Rimmel Salon Pro 544 Bewitch (index, pinky) and Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Key Lime (thumb, middle and ring fingers) as my base colours.
Both polishes were almost opaque in one coat. Awesome stuff!
Then I used leftover foils to add some sparkle to the dark green polish.
The floral image I stamped on the light green polish is from Pueen’s 76 plate which is part of Pueen’s Buffet Leisure set.
I think this mani didn’t turn out as nice as the ‘original’ mani from a few weeks ago. But it looked OK. Please let me know how you like this mani. And thanks for stopping by! 🙂
